Yes It Is good news.Him producing and Josh Trank directing.

Forget the Disney VS Fox war on these boards.Fox Is getting It's **** together over warner Brothers. Now they are putting all their eggs on Man of steel.Plus they seem not to be able to get anything off ground that doesn't have Superman or Batman. And since they allowed Nolan so much control with dark Knight rises It will be several years till they can come out with another Batman film.

Vaughn directed 2011's best reviewed Comic book film.

There Is question how much Nolan actully Is Involved with Man of steel.

Vaughn's Involvement also means they are serious about X-Men and FF In Same universe.

I thought that First Class was the best X-Men film so ****** Beast makeup/CGI aside this is good news to me.

Same here, first class was fantastic, as is this news. And if fox is setting up its own shared universe, then good, about time they started actually putting thought into these franchises.

the picking of their code names was terrible. i didn't like first class at all. but that is irrelevant. i'll just wait and see with this new fantastic four. it could be good, or at least have something i do like in it. time will tell.

If Vaughn is on board producing, then this film is will get fast-tracked. Remember when Kick-Ass 2 was drifting into development hell, then after Vaughn brought on Jeff Wadlow? Boom, the sequel got kicked in production within months. I'm still shocked at how fast it came together when it did.

I expect news to emerge regarding casting in a few months.

He did cast Kelsey Grammer as the Beast ...

maybe he'll cast Kelsey as the Mad Thinker in this one ...

Am I the only one who thinks that with Vaughn on board, the film might start shooting as early as this year? I think they could start by fall at the earliest...

And maybe some casting news by the summer time? I can't wait.

I have a major announcement to make: For the first time since 2007 I am officially excited about this franchise again. I actually have hope.

I have to admit this did cross my mind when I read the news. Unfortunately Matthew has developed quite a reputation of being flaky and unreliable. However, to be fair he did see First Class through and is doing the same for X-Men: Days Of Future Past. I think he's getting in his groove now and will stick with this.

Uh...no, he's not. He was a director, now he's a producer, and "in name only," i.e. he gets paid because he helped develop an early version of the project...but he will have very little to do with the actual production. He departed the directing gig for "various" reasons (although in this case, the change in direction of DOFP was not entirely up to him).

And what happened to Millar's Secret Service?

What do you know, more good news about this Fantastic Four reboot. I don't know if Trank's the right fit for this, but I don't know that he's a bad fit for this either. Regardless, Chronicle's really good. Matthew Vaughn coming onboard as a producer seems like nothing but good news. Here's hoping for a movie that's put together relatively quickly and efficiently, but not rushed.

Gooood, GOOOOOD!

But seriously, great to hear. I think this one's gonna blow the other FF's out of the water.

Sadly, that will be an effortless feat to accomplish at this point.

^I was just thinking the same thing.

I don't hate the first one, though. Well, I don't hate either - but it takes energy to hate something, and I don't need to spend any more energy on Rise of The Silver Surfer than I have. It's lousy, end of story for me.

I think the script's done to the studio and the director's satisfaction now, and Fox was looking for a producer to help get production rolling. Remember, the script for Kick-Ass 2 was done prior to Vaughn choosing the director. After that was done, they started negotiating with the cast members and started filming 3-4 months after the director was announced.

I don't think The Fantastic Four will come together quite as fast, being that they have to cast new actors and such, but it looks like we'll get some casting announcements by summertime. Maybe at Comic Con?

Lmao, very true. It really wouldn't take much to top those movies.

I'm still far from excited, but I'll classify myself as cautiously optimistic.

We have good writers, a good director, no Tom Rothman and now a good producer. Things are about as promising as they can realistically be.
