Khan really had no nationallty. So even though Classic Khan was Latino Actor.Few are going to say It can't work.Plus Hollywood Is changing white characters to black In Blockbusters(Kingpin In Daredevil,Nick fury In MS films,Moneypenny In James Bond,Perry White In Man of steel,Electro In ASM II)

There Is reason Khan theme from Wrath of Khan Is being used.

Could we have both Gary Mitchell and Khan In film? It's possable.

Mitchell's powers he gained are going to have to be watered down somewhat to create conflict. In original timeline Elizabeth Dehner also getting powers and using them to wrecken Mitchell Is only reason Kirk was able to defeat him.

You know all this 'Hope it's not dark' Trek, what about TWOK and First Contact? Both dark Star Trek films compared to the rest and considered two of the best by fans (though I think FC is the worst of the best... if ya get me lol).

I do hope it is a little darker at least. You can still have fun and adventure in a darker setting.

I defently wouldn't put It past them to have all the attention on who Benedict Cumberbatch Is playing but noone Is talking about who Peter Weller Is playing. And
Weller could actully be playing Khan while Cumberbatch Is playing Mitchell.

Another thing Is we had rumor right when sourcess said Khan would be In film that Leonard Nimoy would be making an appearance again(since he already came out of retirement for Fringe last season It wouldn't be a shock If he did again for Abrams here)

The problem with Weller playing Khan is ostensibly this is the same timeline as the old Trek films but with events playing out differently. Meaning its not a reboot in a meta sense, so Khan should still be a Genetically engineered superman from the Eugenics Wars which doesn't sound like it could fit into Weller's CEO.

Yeah Khan here would be the same unchanged young Khan from 'Space Seed'. That 'khan' note could allude to something or just a ploy, which Abrams has been doing since day one.

Weller as CEO Is likely a cover for his real character. If Weller Is playing Khan I wouldn't put It past them to eather say he has been released from suspended animation for some time
or say something happened which caused some aging during the suspended animated after the timeline was altered.

Cumberbatch could still be playing Khan.I went back and watched the teaser and he uses Phaser rifle at one point. Why would Mitchell need a weapon.

well i dunno, isnt this kinda like the butterfly effect.. imo the alternate timeline changes everything in a not foreseeable way.

While that's true but also some partcular fans tend to have an overactive imagination with their theories.

judging from the prologue alone, I doubt that Cumby is Khan.

Yeah I don't think he's Mitchell but I definitely don't think he's Kahn either.

Sure, but after Nero ship shows up and kills Kirk's dad. The Eugenics War and Khan's exile happened in the 90's (heh) so that should have remained intact.

Exactly. And if not it would create a slippery slope of potentially bad writing.

I smell snarkiness. But I like JJ Abrams and his take on Star Trek and Orci/Kurtzman are effective when JJ's looking over their shoulder.

You do realize that Orci,Kurtzman, and Lindolf are the ones who know Star Trek.Abrams has only little knowledge of Trek.Back In past his answer changes depending on who he Is talking to.If anything them seem to be ones who write In things trek fans know while Abrams seems more Intrested In doing a big summer blockbuster.

That image does seem to indicate that the "hands on the glass" scene is actually Cumberbatch's character and Spock. Though I have no idea then what it means. Maybe Spock mind-melds with him for some reason before he goes volcano jumping.

The volcano jumping happens before that scene

If Orci, Kurtzman and Lindolf are that well versed in Trek, they'd bloody well remember that the brig had forcefields and not glass!

I got to be honest, I didn't think about it, but you are right.

Cumberbatch looks pretty badass, or at least more badass then usual.

When I first saw the pic (especially since it was so big and only saw part of it) I thought that Cumberbatch looked like Data with that hairstyle and whitish skin.
