Exactly. I know Orci is a pretty big Trekkie, but I'm willing to bet they chose the glass for cinematic value.

Ok, so as someone who isn't the most well versed in Trek, what is the Harrison/Mitchell connection?

I just assumed that since they're both really basic names with four-letter first names and eight-letter surnames that Abrams and co. were being tricky.

So I never got into Star Trek growing up, but I absolutely loved the last movie and can't wait for this one! Now I'm kind of curious about getting into the franchise, but it's a big one. What do you guys think the best starting point would be? Preferably a point that would lead me into these movies, but I'm not sure if that's possible with the time travel stuff

Let's start at the very beginning... a very good place to start. When you read you begin with ABC, when you Trek you begin with TOS...

Is the villain actually Khan after all though?,Are they explaining how young Khan is now british than spanish?,The old time-line got rebooted in the last movie But it's still a semi-sequel movie to the old films/universe and so did Khan's dad sleep with a british woman over a spanish one when Kirk was born or what??

Oh and is Spock/Nimoy doing another cameo?

Khan was never spanish to begin with. He always was Sikh, just played by an hispanic actor.

Thanks! That's where I was going to start, but I figured I'd ask you guys first since some shows take a while to start sucking you in. For instance, I've started almost every roommate I've ever had on Buffy's 3rd or 5th season

Trimmings, start with TOS season 1, episode 1 and just keep going...

Just be prepared for some "interesting" season 3 episodes though. Their budget got chopped every year they were on the air. One of the original producers once said that by the third year they had a budget that was enough for a really good radio show!

I'll start it tonight! I just had to look up how many seasons it was, because just three is shocking. The way it's lauded so much by anyone I've ever heard of watching it, you'd think it lasted 10 seasons. Do the next shows last a while or something?

Because the concept of our good guys talking to a bad guy that's been locked up was clearly invented by TDK and The Avengers.
