Bladerunner definitely deserves to be on there. It's one of the few science fiction movies that, along with its original story, actually shaped (or predicted) the future. Not in terms of robots, but in terms of urban design, and the kind of cities people would be living in when the future came.
My list is a combination of personal preference and socio-cultural importance: - Bladerunner - 2001: A Space Odyssey - 28 Days Later - The Planet of the Apes - Children of Men - Another Earth - Inception - The Matrix - Metropolis - The Road - T2: Judgement Day

Inception is one of my favourite films although I don't really personally think of it as sci-fi for some reason. Jurassic Park also I guess doesn't count?
Otherwise my favourites off the top of my head are: Star Wars original trilogy Aliens The Matrix (& Reloaded before the last parts) Terminator I & II Predator The new Star Trek is also not far off being on the list.

I am almost tempted to include Starship Troopers to my list.
Not that I think it is a particularly good movie. But like Bladerunner, it somehow was successful at predicting the future via peripheral elements unrelated to the core story. The satirical military propaganda films, presented ironically in Starship Troopers, are being shown today almost literally by the pro-US military movies targetting young people. I'm talking about Transformers 1-3, Battle Los Angeles, Battleship, GI Joe; basically any movie made with US military cooperation. The shot selection, the music, it's frighteningly uncanny the resemblance. You know, I just knew I was missing something. One of the best movies about law enforcement and civil liberties ever made.

The Day the Earth Stood Still - original
2001, A Space Odyssey The Time Machine - original 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea - Disney The Invisible Man Jurassic Park Metropolis The Postman Things to Come Capricorn One The Abyss - extended cut War of the Worlds - yeah, Spielberg's vision was pretty great! I have a hard time thinking of The Thing, Alien, and Aliens as Science Fiction - I would call these films 'horror.' I have no problem will calling The Invisible Man as Sci-Fi. I pretty much like all science fiction even the bad, but Blade Runner is one I have to mention by name. I didnt much care for it the first time I watched it, but I'm always surprised by how I like it more and more each time I watch it .

Very difficult... instead of listing everyone I've seen, I'll just list my top, in no particular order: (also, when I think sci-fi, I think space)
- Starship Troopers - Moon
