I don't like Citizen Kane.
I've studied film, I'm involved in that industry, and I understand the impact it had. I can appreciate it for influencing so many other filmmakers down the line etc. But as a film, I find it boring and outdated. There I've said it.

^ It's already been said a few times in this thread, which is very cyclical
![]() As I've said before in here, I agree. "Touch of Evil" is where it's at for me, Welles-wise. That and that Wine commercial where he is completely drunk and struggles with his lines ![]()

I can respet that, haven't seen cities Kane save for one time in a film class, so I can't really remember how I reacted initially to it. There was one film in that class that I HATED, swept away. Since it was in a film class I'm assuming its regarded as a quality film, but I just couldn't stand that movie.

Even Welles didn't think Kane was his best film. Kane is a technical marvel, but even comparing it to a film like Ambersons a year later, it lacks the soul and emotional impact of that haunting film. And the deep focus technique that Kane often gets lauded for was used to great effect two years earlier in Rules of the Game, which is superior to Kane.

Also, I love Rules of the Game, but I've always preferred "Grand Illusion."

Grand Ilusion is my favorite as well, but I have a great appreciation for La Chienne. The first Renoir I saw and which I find the most heartbreaking, particularily Simon's performance.
No surprise then that my favorite Lang is Scarlet Street, which is every bit it's equal (also my favorite E.G. Robinson performance). |

![]() I love both La Chienne and Scarlet Street As for Michel Simon, he is my favorite incarnation of the devil on screen in Rene Clair's "Beauty and the Devil." Followed closely by the late great Jules Berry in "The Devil's Envoys." Both amazing actors.

Both Amazing, and in terms of Robinson, often underrated. He brought a great humanity to his work and Soylent Green demonstrates this perfectly. I hate when people just associate him with the gangster roles.

Not yet, but I want to. I liked how Tim and Eric invited Wiseau to direct an episode of their show
It was pretty funny too.

I guess I got confused because it was part of this year's academy awards screeners and therefore I thought it was eligible for 2012.
Anyway after watching this, Jack Black totally redeemed himself for me after Gulliver's Travels. (Not that I saw Gulliver's travels, but it looked terrible )

Yes,it had alot of flaws and Venom was screwed over, but I like Spider-man 3 alot.
Also,I didn't hate Dark Knight Rises, but I didn't really love it either. Certainly not as good as Dark Knight. Anne Hathaway blew me away as Catwoman, but other than that nothing really impressed me about the film. And as huge of a horror fan as I am,I never got into any of the Texas Chainsaw movies or the Paranormal activity ones. In fact,I dislike both franchises. I also hate Inglorious bastards. Just a totally unlikeable group of characters, along with a goofy and stupid premise. And even before this movie I hated Brad Pitt, but his accent in this movie made me hate him even more. I hated this movie so much that I even refuse to watch anymore Tarantino films again.
