My friend told me what happens at the end. Jesus Christ. You didn't hear wrong.

There are unfortunately people who are like that, I'm not trying to dispute that and there's no need to bash those who just wants to have a good time but the mentality also goes both way. I've seen plenty of comments like "Oh look here's another boring foreign film with subtitles, yippie". So what if a filmmaker wants you to think more than usually in a specific film, if one's up for it, why not? I like all kind of films and Amour is one of them, it has an emotional impact (even to one quite young as me) as is Haneke's most accesible even though I do say this very lightly, anyway if one watched and don't like it fine by me, I won't look down at them but it bothers me if people talk **** like they know it just plain sucks without even giving it a chance. An open-minded approach would be ideal but that's a wish that's just ain't happening, and I mean this for all kinds of different films.

I'm basing this off reviews , but I really enjoyed Hansel & Gretel :Witch Hunters. It's exactly what was advertised if not better.

Guillermo del Toro is underrated and has yet to do his masterwork.
He is, however, at risk to burtonize himself and ending up repeating his tricks.

There's nothing to suggest he repeats things in his movies the way Burton does. It's not an unpopular opinion it's an unfounded one.

He has a taste for clockwork and a distinctive style of art.
Both are elements that he can overuse. I'm not saying that he would, but that he soudn't

I'm hoping some people will call it a guilty pleasure. I wasn't a fan of Van Helsing and still haven't watched Lincoln vs Vampires , but those films were similar and got cult following. |

From the trailer, H&G feels more like a pumped up "The Brothers Grimm" which I didn't like that much. I still want to see it at some point though. I think it's a fun premise and I like Renner.

At any point during the filming or casting of Hansel and Gretel, do you think anyone asked it it was weird to have Hansel be 15 years older than Gretel?

I consider Michael Mann's Public Enemies to be a great movie, but I don't know if that is an unpopular opinion.

Well it's certainly not as well received as Heat or Collateral.

I don't like Collateral at all.
I think it's mainly because I don't like Jamie Foxx. |

I didn't like Collateral either.
I love Heat and The Last of the Mohicans, and I thought Public Enemies was pretty good but not up to their level.

While I find that movies can have a lot of subtext, I'd rather be entertained first. The first goal that a movie should aim to be is entertaining. I think everything else, it being good is implied. If I'm paying to go see a movie, I am expecting it to be good or at least entertain me. That is not to say that I do dislike more slower, symbol-ladden movies. I think those, when done right is a great source entertainment themselves. But I have to be in a certain mood to watch deeply dramatic movies like Amour. Quote:

I don't lke Collateral either, not because of Foxx, but because of the implausibility of the story, assassin needs a taxi driver to take him from hit to hit? and all the writer's conveniences that twist an already unbelievable premise to try to justify why those two would stay together.
While on the subject of Mann's related unpopular opinion, I also don't like Heat, but that's just because I find it boring. The only Mann film I really like is The Insider.

I don't really like Michael Mann that much either. I thought Public Enemies was really underwhelming. I think Heat and Collateral are okay, but Public Enemies cinemtography was embarrassing to be honest. I have no idea what Mann was going for.
