I didn't enjoy Lawrence of Arabia nearly as much as I should have. Technical wise, the film is flawless. Some of the greatest cinematography ever put on film. The writing is fantastic as well. Peter O' Toole was legendary as well.
But the story was a bit too much of a drag and occasionally uninteresting at times. I didn't think the film was long by any means but certain sections felt to drawn out and some shots went for much too long. I'll have to watch it again some time but that's how I feel about it at the moment. |

I loved Dark Shadows. Maybe because they used Top of the World for the montage...

I liked Depp's take on Barnabbas and that made the film enjoyable at times for me. Certainly 100 x better than Alice

Judd Apatow is becoming the white Tyler Perry, except instead of forcing himself on us, he's forcing his wife and kids. It was fine in "Knocked Up", it was getting stale in "Funny People", and it was obnoxious in "This Is 40". He's done some great stuff (what he's produced, "Freaks and Geeks", "The 40 Year Old Virgin", "Knocked Up"), but he needs to find a different direction.

The trailer for This is 40 kinda annoyed me. "Oh no I'm hot, have 2 healthy kids, a nice house, and an attractive husband. OH WOE IS ME"
-I did not like the first 3/4 of It's A Wonderful Life. I saw it for the first time a couple days ago. I was really disappointed

I have no desire to see This is 40. The trailer annoys me too and I'm not crazy about Apatow improvisational style of comedy.

This is 40 is a much better film than most are making it out to be.

The previews for This is 40 just looked so underwhelming. I'm going to wait until it's on DVD or Netflix. 40 Year Old Virgin will always be my favorite that he's made. I watched it a few months ago and it still holds up incredibly well. It says a lot about what it takes to be a man and also men and sexuality in the 21st Century. |

Of the movies he directed I agree that 40 Year Old Virgin is the funniest.
But if we include the ones he produced, I choose Superbad

I like 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up, and think they make for great time capsules of modern day comedy. But I can totally see why some don't like Apatow. He takes very little risks as a filmmaker, and This is 40, at least from previews seems to exemplify that. I'll probably catch it on TV someday, doubt I'll ever go to the theater to see it.

On an unrelated and hopefully unpopular note, I enjoyed all the Harold and Kumar films.

I liked the third one. It was fun to watch in theaters.
But neither are as close to as good or funny as the first. |

I think the first and third film are classic , but don't remember the second one that much. I thought Harold and Kumar films were popular. I think the series has run it's course though. On the topic of Judd Apatow... I like everything he's been involved in with the exception of Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and Year One. I think Funny People is decent , but hardly funny. I only got a couple laughs and the story does go on too long and almost seems pointless at times. |
