The thing is though, if they don't allow Hip Hop than they can't allow any other genre either. That means no Johnny Cash, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Prince etc..

What I don't understand is that in appeasing people's complaints about the thing (which admittedly said complaints ARE somewhat pointless, but anyway) they could actually make WAY more money. If the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame expanded and had a Hip-Hop Hall of Fame, a Pop Hall of Fame, etc. they could put on multiple performances per year, have multiple ceremonies, and they and HBO could make way more money.
