Wow quick reply. Thanks! So you both are Australian? IGN has an Australian branch/office? Sorry for the many questions I like knowing things like this, plus I have an interest in the field having dong PR, broadcast journalism, tv/film production, acting, etc. etc.

Cool beans. Thanks for the info.

A cape used as a shield Bullet proof cape maybe or fire resistant lol. I think the cape is as practical as Superman having red boots lol.

I don't mind the mini-skirt at all. Plus, in relation to supergirl, she is a teen and is very accepting of earth's culture. I'm sure she would think that pants or an ankle dress would not be "cool" or practical for a teenager.

Also, how is a cape visually practical (now that I think of it)? I can see it as visually appealing, but practical? Either it is or it isn't.

Oh, I'm not. I'm just saying that the argument of the skirt not being practical is somewhat silly given the very nature of comics.

A cape is visually practical in a comic book panel to convey motion. That's not exactly necessary in live action.

I would argue that it is visually appealing and not necessarily practical, because if it were practical then the Flash not having a cape would mean we couldn't tell if he was moving fast or not in relation to things around him. And I've never heard of anyone complain about Flash not looking fast in the comics.

However, I see your point.

No, she's in LA, I'm in Australia, she contacted me on twitter a couple of days ago and request the manip. The 17 hour time difference was fun.

LOL...Haha...awesome...sucks. I'm sure you were like who is contacting you so early in the morning or late in the evening depending on your time.

Good to know, thanks for the info!

I would agree that it's visually appealing, which circles back around to my point that in comic book movies, it's not only about practicality. I think the Supergirl manip is fine with a skirt.

I was more wondering why someone with 19,000 followers would be contacting me. Turns out she's an actress as well.

Definitely not surprised. Who isn't in LA lol? Part of the reason I am trying to get out there lol.

Well at least you have more LA contacts now and more business in the future hopefully.

I don't think you realise just how difficult it is to make something like this in such a short space of time. It ain't perfect but it's the best I could do.

I think the manip looks cool, by the way- and I don't mind the skirt either. It looks just fine for a manip. Good job

Have you even read Superman? He uses his cape as a shield to protect people because it IS bullet proof and fire resistant. He did it way back in the Fleischer cartoons all the way up to new 52. It's as indestructible as his costume. It's good to know people arguing against me don't know what they're talking about.

Because you're the only one who makes manips so I wouldn't know how difficult it is? I have no idea how long you took to make it. How long you spend on it is up to you.

I don't know why people are getting so upset. It's a criticism which I think is more than fair. If you had indestructible armor or just tough material, making a mini skirt out of it is impractical as a costume for combat.

Ouch! I was speaking of capes in general or ones used for simple costume effects, not necessarily Supes. Either way given Superman's powers he really doesn't need a freaking cape, now does he. I know you will say, "Well it helps shield people blah blah blah" However, I would reply Can't superman move super fast...why not just move the person out of the way....Bottom line capes are visually appealing and writers can USE them for however they please to help the story. However, if Supes didn't have a cape I doubt he would be any less efficient at saving lives.

jmc, that is fantastic, I know when you're working something creatively it's hard to step back and appreciate your own work, but that is fantastic, and it shows the new material and design lend itself very well to a Supergirl costume.
