I'm severely disappointed with AMC. Me and especially my brother have worried that AMC might do something to really hurt the show, and right now, I'm hoping that this isn't it. Ultimately, if the show does get worse, we'll know who to blame.

Why couldnt TWD be owned by another network so they could just pull it off of AMC and have HBO or Showtime pick it up (cause you know they would in a heart beat).
Though I dont know why some people still complain about MadMen "taking all the money" when others would do the same if they had the chance. |

That's how AMC rolls.

They'll re-cast Rick after season 4 or just kill him and then fast forward to an adult Carl.

Budget is probably an issue, it was supposedly one when Darabont was fired. But also, they own the show outright, so they may believe that all the success is because of them and not the showrunner(s). |

After seeing what they've done with Game of Thrones, I've been hoping this would happen. Darabont's departure got me worried(and hopeful), and now this? Show still blows me away, though.

Not gonna happen ever, unlike Mad Men and Breaking Bad, AMC have complete ownership of the show. The ratings are I think highest of anything on the network, and it makes them a lot of money, so why would they give it up?
Also a bit of trivia, HBO actually passed on this show way back when Darabont pitched it to them, with Thomas Jane as Rick. Of course when AMC finally came a long, Jane was already doing Hung. |

“As soon as I became showrunner, I felt our horror element demanded this style of accelerated storytelling,”
says Glen Mazzara THR too bad.

This seems like an unwise move from AMC. If they're not careful they will run this show into the ground.

maybe DISH knew what they were doing after all, stinks that AMC seems to have forced smiles on everyone involved. Come on and kill Merle, afterwards Rooker looks like the kind of guy not to give a **** and spill what really went down.

I can't believe that AMC still has these kind of problems. I'm seething in anger right now. I just hope Glenn Mazzara stays on until the end of season 3. The change in pacing, action, and drama has been a very noticeable improvement since Mazzara signed on. The ratings speak for themselves, its never been more popular. It will take more money and more work to keep up the model Mazzara put forth AFTER he leaves with a new EP. I fail to see how AMC doesn't realize this.

Well this is a damn shame, but totally unsurprising considering AMC's dealings with their other showrunners. They just don't know how lucky they are having such creative talent at their network, and I think soon that bad karma's gonna catch up to them once MM and BB finish. TWD is inevitably gonna go downhill at some point, sooner than later with this kind of stuff happening constantly behind-the-scenes. Then they'll be "that network" that spends years trying to recapture their glory days.

Apparently now Kurt Sutter dragged Kirkman's name into the whole thing on Twitter. I was with him when he was railing against the network, but I really don't think Kirkman had anything to do with it.

The news of Glen Mazzara upsets me deeply. I hope whoever takes over won't cause the quality of it to dip.

So does this mean we'll be back to the main cast sitting around having 'in-depth' philosophical debates and making faces at each other?

Doubt it. I think that's kind of the reason they ousted Darabont in the first place. Who knows what they wanted out of Mazzara...

Maybe they thought he was getting too big for his britches, because it's their show.

That seems like a pretty stupid reason.
So, yeah, AMC probably did that.

Yeah, it was obviously creative. He wanted the show to go in a certain direction, AMC didn't like it, they fought about it and now he's gone.

Well obviously. The thing is, after the first half of the season this show has had, the network should've just shut their mouths and let the man keep doing what he's been doing.
AMC needs to take some pointers from FX. Mainly about execs keeping their mouths shut and letting the writers do their job.

They think the success of the shows is because of them, not the creators. Gilligan and Weiner are lucky AMC doesn't own their shows, because it allows them to have the "taking the show to another network" card to play, which sadly The Walking Dead doesn't have.
