My read on that is that Tom was simply saying that audiences might be tired of seeing Loki as the antagonist again and again; not necessarily hinting that audiences want to see Loki turn into a pretty nice guy after all. In other words, he thinks that audiences might get tired of seeing Loki again, period. And I hope he's wrong. Magneto has proven to be a popular and resilient villain over multiple movies, and audiences are still just as happy with him as McKellen or Fassbender; I'm sure that audiences in general would be happy to keep Loki around for the duration of the Thor series, too. Maybe not another Avengers stint, but the Thor franchise: definitely.

I dont think that he's saying they are getting tired of seeing him period, no. That would be a pretty crazy thing for him to say or even think considering all the fans he has out there now that basically came from his depiction of Loki, and he knows have been clamoring for more. In fact, I recall when that quote first came out, many were like "He thinks that people are going to be tired of seeing Loki? What the hell, how can he say/think that?" And then there was all kinds of crazy tweeting at Tom about how they are not tired of him or Loki at all. LOL (Not from me, I will make clear. I'm not actually on twitter ). I continue to think that it's just an extremely odd thing for him to say, in any case. I could say more but I'm trying desperately not to get tied up in this type of conversation about Loki yet again. ![]() I would be surprised if he's in A2, there are plenty of bad guys out there, why should Loki have all the fun? Plus I'd rather he get more to do in the other Marvel films, then what would be likely to be a tiny part in A2. |

I'm understand this whole fan-girl obsession with Loki, I get the misunderstood, bad boy thing, wanting to fix him with your love, whatever, i dunno..
but I do find it just a little disturbing that the genocidal sociopath gets more love from the ladies around here than the giant, godly hero does lol

Often large segments of an audience (male and female) find the villain to be more interesting than the hero. I think that's because the villain, being less constrained by what is good and right, has greater freedom of action and can have more nuanced responses to various situations. The hero has to uphold appearances and the law and be responsible and all that.

A lot of the attraction to Loki, beyond the physical appeal of Hiddie, has to do with the fact that he's actually a complex, layered, three-dimensional character. And definitely the best of the Marvel Studios villains --- all the rest are boring and one-dimensional and predictable as hell. Loki: not so much. Part of you feels sorry for him, part of you despises him. I personally believe he's one of the top three superhero villains ever put to film, due to his mercurial, multi-faceted and unpredictable nature. It's actually *fun* to see him work his machinations.
I get the feeling we might see something special from Mandarin this year, too. In the comics, he's an offensive and grossly outdated racial stereotype; but in the movie, it seems like they're actually *playing* on that to show how out of touch Mandarin is by perpetuating those stereotypes. I don't think Mandarin will be nearly as "great" as Loki, but I think he's got the potential to become Marvel's next great villain, instead of another Red Skull, Abomination, Ironmonger or Whiplash.

![]() No., if that's what you think, no actually you don't "get it". But that's all I'm going to say about it. Let it remain a mystery to at least some, while I go back to biting what's left of my tongue. ![]() Quote:
Really liked both James Franco and Alfred Molina and what they did in the Spiderman series, but oddly enough I recall being more drawn to and interested in Molina as Doc Oc, than James Franco as Harry when those first came out. And if I consider young MCU Xavier vs young MCU Magneto, two very very HOT men, it's close but Xavier gets my vote in the who gets my attention more poll. Even though I'd consider Fassbender more attractive of the two generally, and even though I am very very fond of Magneto as a character old or young. Not at all interested in the other bad guys in the Xmen series. The Joker was interesting, and Heath did an amazing job, but I definitely found Bruce Wayne gets more interest from me in that series. And I consider myself more a Heath Ledger fan (for many many years) than a Christian Bale fan. So basically complicated and interesting 3 dimensional characters with good acting generally gets my attention, and quite often trumps looks with me.Quote:

Nice. That was a good read.
![]() Lamely enough, I have been fascinated by Thor not because of the movie or because of the comics, but... because of the movie "Adventures in Babysitting". When it came out, I thought, "Why is the little girl obsessed with a male character?" so it always just sat on my mind. *shrug* And Vincent D'onofrio looked good back then hehe. |

![]() ![]() In all seriousness on the subject of Loki fangirls, there's those who like him for that multi dimensional character that he is. But I do believe the psychotic ones that stand out more probably just find Tom attractive. But that's just my two cents on the subject |

Red Skull was dissappointing. TOO one dimensional. They coulda done a bit more, and expanded cap's relationship, or, feelings towards him. Just pure pure hatred. Quote:
MCU characters so far with powers are, Ironman, Ironman Monger, Hulk, Abomination, Sterns/The Leader, Whiplash, War Machine, Thor, Loki, The Destroyer, Captain America, Red Skull, The Winter Soldier, Crossbones, Mandarin+whoever else..xmen and ff aren't a part of the MCU currently. I think Kingsly is going to kill it as well. I think he very well MAY be the best villain of phase 2. As am I. That's why he's gunna be so great.

Loki is only as good as the actor who portrays him, and that's why so many people like him.
But enough with Loki. I cannot express my anger with marvel these days, and how they handle Thor, on screen or in the comics. Thor for all intents, and purposes is suppose to be marvel's more action seeking, version of Superman, NOT Iron Man. And these days you can hardly tell. I cringed at how useless he was made in the last battle scene of the Avengers...okay the entire movie. I dont expect him to do everyone's job(he is capable), and to some degree you have tone his powers down a bit, but dont strip him of everything he is, simply to make other characters(Hulk/Iron Man) look good. Thor is the only person on that team that could of flew into that portal and breathed in space, yet they sent Iron Man because he was too busy fighting on the ground, smashing the bug people(no im not going to google the name of them) one by one(he has the power to destroy hundreds in one shot). Hulk was smashing, Cap was leading, Hawkeye was shooting, and Black Widow was looking sexy, while kicking ass. So could we not see the GOD of Thunder lighting up the skies while handling air support with Iron Man. He should of been tossing those ships all around like toys. He tagged a couple of them with some lightning whilst holding on too a building awkwardly(he can flyyy!!! He hovers in one spot allll the time, and its clear in the movie that he was more falling with style then flying). But the problem is that Marvel is intentionally trying to make him less and less then what he was created to be, and that bugs the crap out of me. But here we are, nearly 8 n half months til the movie is released and we dont even have real posters, Concept art, a ten second trailer that fans can rewind over and over, more info on the script, NOTHING! They did this to the first Thor as well, they waited 3 months before the movie came out, and then got serious about promotions. Iron Man is going to fill seats, it doesn't need all of that promotion. Thor is still a movie, the average person may take or lose as far as seeing, and part of the reason is the way they treat it. We should be seeing more and more ads for Thor everyday, yet all we have is still photos taken by random people. Thor 2 spends more energy promoting Iron Man, then its own film. But of course marvel is going to wait until Iron Man 3 is out, to release its trailer, and promote the film. And he is GOD of thunder. Not prince, to alien, not dude from a galaxy far far away. He is a god, and he uses magic. He is physically as strong as the hulk, and he can control the weather. His hammer channels A LOT of lightning(he should be lighting up skies). His hammer can also cast energy blast that can destroy planets as well(thats obviously most likely going to be left out, but hey im venting here). Lets bring THOR GOD OF THUNDER BACK PLEASE! Their is no other hero in Marvel that could produce the kind of movie he can. And lets have a real Thor vs Hulk fight were Thor actually uses his hammer on Hulk. |

Useless in the final battle? Thor took out two of the Leviathans BY HIMSELF. He came off as a badass in his fight against Tony and the Hulk, which he did partially without his hammer. His knockdown of Hulk was one of the best moments in the movie.
The new film isn't coming out until November. Just be patient. It'll ramp up soon enough.

Re: the rant above....
....about Avengers and closing the portal --- in Tony's defense, nobody *sent* him or anyone else into the portal. Tony reacted instantly, and was the first one on the scene, and he took it upon himself to take the missile up into space. It wasn't part of anybody's plan; just a spur-of-the-moment reaction.

It's never enough until he's a full-on Mary Sue. Fortunately Marvel has the wits to not glorify one character at the expense of all the others.

His fight with ironman was pretty one sided it seemed, he held his own against the hulk, and only hit him with the hammer once, all while playing to his advantages, in an even fight. That, not to mention that him one shotting two leviathans with lightning, and everything else that came out of the portal, and the fact that in his solo movie he destroyed like a city cize landscape, I think it's pretty clear Thor is getting the respect he deserves in the MCU. His variety of powers need to be explored, but compared to the rest, I think it it pretty clear he is the top dog. He's essentially a city buster. no hero in the mcu so far has displayed that level of destructive power yet
