Why not do both? X4/First Class... Combine The Franchises!

I see a thread about X4 and about a First Class sequel but why not do both at the same time in the same movie?

Given the critical praise but light box office of First Class and the love of the trilogy by most, it makes the most sense for Fox.

For me, First Class/X1/X2 is now the X-Men trilogy with X3 as a side note. Those three films are now THE best trilogy the genre has delivered. So...

X4 = Days of Future Past with BOTH casts!!!

Old Xavier (Patrick Stewart) contacts young Xavier (James McAvoy) to save the world! Logan (Hugh Jackman) can stay the same age but use different actors for the same characters in both time periods!!!!! Fassbender plays off Sir Ian and we get a younger Storm and Cyclops plus real Sentinel attacks. Killing Logan and Storm and Peter in the future would make for great cinema and that way the old cast can hand the franchise off to the new cast in a cool fashion. Restore the box office glory and we all win.

2nd, they can't revive Professor X as Patrick Stewart w/ no explanation.

Eh nah. The X-franchise often gets accused of having too many characters. Doubling the cast like that would make it worse and more expensive.

I wouldn't be so sure on that.A case can be made of First Class/X-Men/X2 as trilogy.

Even If they want to treat X4 as sequel to First Class and X-Men/X2/Last Stand they
are not going to want to draw attention to The Last Stand.Cyclops won't be In X4
If they are not Ignoring Last Stand.They are not going to spend part of movie rewriting events of Last Stand.

The Days of Future past storyline Is not to rewrite film canon.It presentered an A possable future where Sentinles have killed mutants and surviving mutants are going to try to prevent this future.While In present evil mutants set out to kill a anti mutant politican.

Rogue would probally be given the role Kitty Pryde had In Original story.In part because Anna Paquin may be more willing to return than Ellen Page.

If Ian Mckellan doesn't want to return than likely an Older Emma Frost or possibly even
Sinster would be responable for sending mutants to kill politican.

Now If Kelsey grammer and Rebecca Romijn decline to return then I could see them
use Nicholas Hoult and Jennifer Lawrence.With both under makeup they could get away
with that.

If they don't Ignore Last Stand I could see X-men lineup of Wolverine,Storm,Rogue,Iceman,Colossus,possibly Nightcrawler and Beast(If they can make that work with how the Last Stand ended) and possibly Introducing Gambit.

If they Ignore Last Stand I see lineup of Wolverine,Storm,Cyclops,Rogue,Iceman,Colossus,Nigh tcrawler and possibly Beast rejoing giving connection to first Class.

If they do something like this they should just bring back like 4 actors from the original trilogy and give them like 15-20 minutes of screen time tops that includes them trying to get the message in the past and dying from Sentinels like in the original Days of Future Past. I would just use Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, and whatever other two or so actors that are willing to come back (that didn't die according to X3). Just use that footage of Hugh and Halle for the trailers to get hype for the movie but have the real story be about the cast in the past trying to prevent the events in the future.

And it would be too much for the general audience, I think, and mainly for the final result.

The original cast is big enough already, so adding actors from First Class would be too much, too many actors/characters to have a decent development.

A short cameo, yes, but nothing more, Id say.

I think McAvoy/Fassbender/January/Jennifer/Caleb/Hoult/Lucas to join Hugh/Halle/Anna/Shawn/Colossus/Angel would be better in X-Men 5. Time travel is always nice and interesting.

Just give the original cast a solo film for themselves and the cast of XFC could join them in X5.

I don't wanna see the two ensembles merging. At all.

I could handle Jackman traveling back in time with Rogue and meeting with McAvoy and co. but I don't wanna see Jackman joining Vaughn's X-Men team for any battles. It would pretty much retcon the introduction he had to Scott, Ororo and Jean.

I can see Xavier and Magneto already knowing him beyond the bar scene cameo. Example being his meeting Xavier in X1:
Logan: "I don't need medical attention."
Xavier: "Yes, of course."

and Magneto's reference to him in X2:
Erik: "...and now you think by taking in The Wolverine, you can make up for your failure with Stryker's son."

Do a Days of Future Past movie with cameos by The First Class cast. Don't do one starring both casts.

Considering a strong case can be made they are already Ignoring the Last Stand with First Class.Days of Future past as I have been pointing out Is about changing a possable future not rewritting the Last Stand.

I want the X films In one contunity.I want any first Class sequels to fit with X-Men and X2.I want X4 or whatever It would be call to tell a new story not spend 40 Minutes trying to rewrite the Last Stand.Eather outright Ignore last Stand or make no references to It.
I would like to see Bryan Singer do for Days of future past what he did for God Loves Man Kills.We would be In for a fine film If that happened.

What if a First Class sequel tackled Days of Future Past in which the 1970's X-Men have to prevent a terrible future and tie it into historical events like First Class did? Then X4/5 could tackle Sinister and Apocalypse.

FOX will never erase X3 into the continuity even if the fans said so.

No need, X3 was a rushed mess but did deliver a few cool moments. Whatever happened, they can easily fix. Xavier returned post credits and the "cure" doesn't stick. So, find Scott wandering in the woods if needs be but things can get convoluted at that point. Playing catch up is never good for a film. There's no "Previously on X-Men" intros like the good old Fox Kids cartoon.

That would be the true test of a combo film or X4 for that matter. Resetting the franchise during the opening credits ALA The Incredible Hulk.

I actually had a similar concept in mind... but, instead of involving time travel, my idea was to just have characters of the first class team return as old men/women, to warn and seek the help of the current x-men, in the return of the old enemy that their team faced back in the day... whose is now tracking down all the former members, that defeated him/her/it all those years ago...

and they would like kinda go back an further in the timeline, telling the original story in flashbacks of what happened little by little throughout, and then back to present times of what’s happening, now (and how the evens of the past have effect the future)

Interesting idea, but it'd easily be crammed in in-between the younger and older characters (unless they have it in two parts). Besides, it'd be odd seeing both generations in the same movie at once.

Exactly but why not use both casts already in place? Maybe Halle would cost too much but I'd bet everyone else would love to do it.
