I wouldn't go that far. A young Han movie has a lot of potential and a lot of leeway and freedom. As much as I'd love an Obi-Wan film, a writer is much more restricted, as we know the point in which we leave him in Sith (on Tatooine watching over Luke) to when we see him again in A New Hope (on Tatooine watching over Luke). Han before A New Hope is an open book (EU is out the window).

Instead of calling this a spin-off film or series. What if they just did a trilogy of films in-between the prequels and original trilogy? There is so much stuff they could include, Everyone has brought up Luke, Obi wan, and even Vader hunting down jedi and doing palpatine's bidding, although i have seen no one talk about showing princess Leia becoming the leader of the rebellion and how she gets into politics.
I would do that ( i think there is enough material) and bridging the gap would be good) Plus they can bring vader back. Then do the Yoda, Han Solo, and boba fett spin-offs, and then look into KOTOR and a plagueis film. |

now that Edgerton is on his way to becoming an A-lister, they can bring him back and have him share and adventure (with Owen being an unwillling partner) with Obi.

And again, not saying I don't want an Obi-Wan film, because I do, right on top of the list! Just saying from a writer's point of view...

An Obi Wan Clone would ruin the character and in my view any credibility of the filmmakers.

There is one reason, where I believe Cloning would not only work, but also fit with the Saga well...If someone with dark intentions, i.e. Sith or other...Cloned Jedi, & Trained them in the Darkside...Imagine an Army of Mace Windu's for example...?

A film based around Obi-Wan when in seclusion on Tattooine, learning his path to immortality with Qui-Gon whilst at the same time getting into an adventure with Owen, and needing to protect Luke from discovery by the Empire. A film based on Han Solo in the darker worlds of Star Wars, doing his smuggler thing and maybe annoying some crime lord and attracting the attention of a certain notorious bounty hunter. And a final film based around Darth Vader as he hunts down the last Jedi for his master, Emperor Palpatine who is facing a small pocket of rebellion, stemming from Alderaan and Bail Organa, with his daughter, Leia.

That said, I can see him as a Force ghost in Episode VII. There should be some link of the Chosen One and bring balance to the Force through out the saga. Maybe Abrams can bring out a better performance, which ultimately be just a cameo anyway.

So to serve those storylines and none other, I'd be more than happy to have Hayden return.

Not necessarily, a few elements of EU found their way into the prequels. we can expect the same for these films.

Sorry, no. He's one of tr many reason why the Prequels polarizes people (among other things.) It's best to distance this new trilogy from the Prequels. I'm down for Ewen to come back though as a Force Ghost since Sir Alec is gone.

Which is why I chose the words "I'd like" and "adapted".
