From what i stated the lack of those things gives it a fighting chance.

Sequels mostly make more money than the first.

I asked you what your prediction for the first movie was to see how good at guessing you are or if it's fandom guessing. If you ask me to show you something and then I say...well why don't you show me what I posted? That's dumb.

I found it anyways, you guessed that ASM had a good chance at a billion. Yeah that didn't happen. It didn't even get close.

Nobody said sequels don't mostly make more money than the first. You think it's going to make $250 million more or 33% more than the first one......

All that matters is that the movie makes enough to support a sequel. The Twilight saga is the 9th highest grossing franchise of all time, while Ice Age and Transformers are 11 and 12, respectively. Does that say something? Box office success doesn't really matter unless the movie makes less than the prequel or bombs.

There will be a number of people that will see this movie just cause they are comic/Spidey fans. I don't know if anyone disliked the movie enough to say they are not going to watch the sequel. The thing Sony needs to do is get more random movie goers to watch it. Cause they already have the main crowd on stand-by. So I can't see the sequel making less then the first.

I read this in Banes voice.

But, I can see this film making between 850 and 950 M.

The film has a year and a half essentially to build hype, Spidey is the biggest CBM state to release in 2014, great cast, and the ASM has a good word of mouth to build now that the BR and DVD's are out.

Not saying I can read the future or anything, but this film is almost guaranteed to make more then ASM.

X-Men DOFP will be big, but not on the same level as Spider-Man.

Yeah for sure.

Unless GOTG has some crazy special effects and goes balls to the walls with marketing and trailers and appears as an "Avatar" like film like some state it might be, but I highly doubt that.

Lets kick back and see what happens!

You're stating that as a fact, how do you know?

I think it would have been more correct if he said the majority of the GA didn't care about Captain America before the Avengers. I still don't think many people in the GA care about him that much. If anything, the Hulk gained more love and attention.

Compared to Hulk, Iron Man and Thor, he's probably the least popular main-stay Avenger for the GA, but I still think after the enormous success of the Avengers, The Winter Soldier could make around $400-500M worldwide.

Everything you just said had almost nothing to do with anything I said. TASM2 isn't "facing" Cap 2. At all. Their releases are a full month apart. The only reason I mentioned Cap 2 at all is because it takes away the novelty of the May Sweet Spot when it's not the first blockbuster of the summer. That's it. That's the only relevance Cap 2 had in the discussion. I was not comparing their actual box office prospects at all.

Not to get too far off-topic but while you may not have liked the Cap movie, there are many of us who did. I personally place it above Thor, IM2 and TIH when ranking the MCU movies. Plenty of other people do too. And plenty of others also felt the way you did as well. That's the great thing about opinions - everyone's got 'em. And neither your opinion nor mine is any kind of consensus, so it's silly to state it as such. The only objective way we have of determining how the "general audience" feels about a movie is through the CinemaScore professional polls that are conducted on opening weekend, and in that, Cap got an "A-" while Thor got a "B+", but like all other polls and ratings systems, those are hardly definitive. The only rough consensus that I think can be drawn about the MCU movies is that people seemed to really like The Avengers as one of the best. And there will still be people who disagree on even that. Otherwise, the opinions on what movie's better than what in that franchise are really all over the place. Which, to me, could be seen as kind of a good thing, as it suggests they're doing something right over there at Disney/Marvel.

Yeah. DOFP will be the second biggest that year.

Luckily,, they aren't in direct competition. So, both will do very well.

hopefully.

I wonder how much DOFP will make.

The highest grossing X-Men film was X-Men: The Last Stand, and it earned $459,359,555 worldwide. I can't see DOFP making more than $500-600 million worldwide.

First Class had earned $353,624,124, so it would be making a big jump. Of course that doesn't mean anything, since Batman Begins made $372 million, while TDK earned over a billion.

I think DOFP has a good chance at being the first X-Men film to crack a billion worldwide.

It has a chance, but we'll see. I want to see how big the hype is for the movie when the trailer comes out.

For now I'll say:

IM3 = 950 m
MOS = 750 m
ASM2 = 825 m
DOFP = 550 m

I don't think IM3 is going to make $950 million. Maybe closer to $600-700 million.

Man of Steel could make around $750, not sure though.

TASM2 I could see earning $750-$850 million.

DOFP will probably make more than $550
