Happy New Year SHH. I just woke up and I feel extremely hung over. Thing is, I didn't drink last night. Instead I spent the evening at my best friends apartment eating corn dogs and playing Halo 4 until 3:30 in the morning. That's a heck of a way to usher in a new year.

Hey guys, I'm currently collecting entries for the Hype Encyclopedia, which is pretty much a hype history book combined with an encyclopedia. If anyone would like post notable famous (or more likely infamous) hype moments as well as some hype slang or terms it would be great appreciated.

Someone more closely associated with the Awards, Marx maybe, should include as much of the Award winners as we know. Each year, category, winners... nominees maybe.

Oh my that sounds amazing! I can think of many on-going rivalries between sections/groups on these boards

I just realised that this was the first Christmas and New Year I didn't get a text from one of my exes. I always got one for the past 7 years. But nothing this year. It made me sad.

Dude that's amazing! Really glad you got some of these finished. Did you ever finish that book that I started reading? Must have been about 5/6 years ago when we were doing that Contest of Marvels thing. Think it had a guy called John Profit (wow my memory is awesome if I got the name right). If I was any encouragement at all then that's great..& I'm quite proud of myself! Well, good luck for the future & maybe I need to read one of these completed works.

It's funny, for various reasons I watched by far the least amount of films I've ever watched in a year in 2012. I'm a massive LOTR fan and I haven't even watched The Hobbit yet. At the same stage I'd seen each of the LOTRs about 5 times each. Went to the cinema only for things like Avengers & DKR. I still enjoy the average Hollywood action film but don't feel the same urgency to see them any more.

When you get get in film conversations you should take it as a personal offence if someone brings up something you haven't seen. Are some of them rewatches of films you've seen before? Surely, otherwise the total which is very impressive regardless goes to a new level of crazy!

All that said what was your favourite of the year?

One of these days I'll see that movie (or some version of it). I had a friend at work who kept telling me that the book was his favorite of all time and that it made him cry. I tried reading it but couldn't cope with the old style of writing and the horrible amount of description. Then the guy passed away of cancer and I forced myself to read it. It was phenominal as it turned out and I wish I could have talked to him about it while he was still alive.

Since reading it I've wanted to see it on screen, I just never watch movies. I just think it's a shame that people never read the book because of how old fashioned it is. Since it's public domain I thought about rewriting it how a modern audience would prefer but I don't feel that I could do it justice.

Yep... Jon Profit (without the H) was the character. I actually never finished that version you read but I did go back and rewrite it now that I'm more experienced. I'm early in the editing stages of it and have made a lot of changes. I cut out around 15 characters, only take the point of views of between 5 and 7 characters, instead of the 17 p.o.v's from before. Funnily enough, Jon Profit was one of the characters cut from the book. I replaced him with a character named Ivan Shaymolin, who was going to come into the original story much later. Jon did make it back into the book, though he's a much smaller character at the moment (and only refered to as Jon so far). If you remember a jerk named Jacob, he took Jacob's place

Part of the change is that instead of being a typical fantasy story, it's now a Christian Fantasy story. Essentially the same story but I model the main tribe in the image of the Church. It's not preachy. I just reflect how it would be like if a group of Christians and all their flaws were somehow trapped in a fantasy setting, though I don't call them Christians.

I'll be happy to send you a copy when I have some more editing finished. Without your motivation at the time I'd likely have given up writing entirely.

Oh yeah. Most are first time watches....but some I have seen many times, others I saw once or twice 30, 40, or 50 years ago...so they are like new.

I read the book decades ago (I read most of the classics decades ago...don't read as much anymore because of my eyes and not having the time). This movie was a TV version, pretty good. I always liked the Robert Taylor version from the 50's too. I have the Steven Waddington TV miniseries, but haven't found the time to watch it yet.

I've always watched a lot of movies...but last year I made a New Year's resolution to watch more this year because I had so many unwatched DVDs stacking up. This year's resolution is to catch up on the TV series I have stacked up.

I saw Thor 17 times in three days. I kinda didnt take it out of the DVD player and set it to loop.

And speaking of Avengers, noticed a lot of stuff this time that I didn't really see before.

I know I have a shirt that says this.
My total viewings for Thor though is like 22 times? Before Avengers hit I felt seeing it a total of 20 was necessary, a nice round number like that (so is eighteen but that'd be logical )
