Alright, I read the first issue of Guardians of the Galaxy, and Drax already talked enough that I don't want to see someone like Batista in the role.

Hey, in dramatic roles, I agree 110% that people from other professions need not apply and they should leave the acting to the, you know, professionals. But when it comes to ACTION films --- which the superhero genre, especially as espoused by Marvel Studios, most assuredly belongs to --- then it's perfectly acceptable to cast athletes and soldiers and cops and people who used to do action movie stuff in real life (more or less).

If you left action movies *only* to trained Shakespearean Master Thespians, we would've never gotten Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Duane Johnson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Van Damme, Carl Weathers, Jim Brown, Johnny Weismuller, Jason Statham, and many more. Yeah, none of those guys are/were ever in any danger of winning Oscars, either, but action movies just wouldn't be the same without them.

The majority of these people paid their dues and worked their way up the Hollywood system like, you know, professional actors. They weren't handed a lead role in a big budget studio movie when the biggest thing on their resume was an episode of Two and a Half Men or a terrible, terrible turn in an RZA movie or a bit part in a Tyler Perry romcom.

I also think you don't really understand how hard it is to act opposite a blue/green screen, and how easy it is for even pretty good actors to fail completely and give an embarrassing "performance".

I think you guys are placing way too much importance on these fan castings. I can guarantee you that no one that's actively involved in the making of this film gives a flying **** who any of you think is fit to play these roles, whether they be an award-winning actor or a former professional wrestling DTV star.

So what if someone on this message board continues to push someone that will obviously never end up in one of these films. Let them waste their breath. Does it really trouble you that deeply?

Finished issue 11. Even if you don't include his daughter, that dude is smart. He may talk little, but depending on the situation, he'll go completely existential on you. I'd love to see him go existential in a Movie. First you just know him as that quiet guy, who only talks when necessary, then suddenly he starts to explain stuff that would make your brain melt.

Yeah, no unproven wrestlers for Drax please.

How about we cast an unproven Bodybuilder/thug as James Bond that wont work... Oh wait Sean Connery that did work.


How about a soft core porn star as the lead for a boxing film that wont work...Ah that did work, Stallone.

So who's to jude to what persons past career makes them a good actor, Wrestler, bodybuilder, who cares. As long as they can act. If they impress marvel they will impress fans

I hope you know that those cases are in the minority. You keep making this point as if every bodybuilder/wrestler who has tried acting has gone on to become great actors. The majority of them suck, hence why there is always apprehension when one is brought up. In this specific case, we've seen Batista act and he sucks.

Hey, if they can convince the people in charge that they are right for the role, sure, why not. I just doubt Batista will be that person.

The only way I would be ok with Batista getting the role is if they turned the character into what Sabretooth was like in X1, but then I would be bitter that the character won't be speaking much. It's ****** either way you look at it.
