They do look farther apart, I'll grant that. As for the way the troll's head is turned, I can't tell if it is actually inaccurate or just a different angle... but I'm not too good at those "spot the difference" things.

That's unnecessarily rude and, frankly, not very classy. You have sustained the discussion thus far, so you haven't really covered yourself in glory with this last statement.
It's rude that I admit the conversation has moved far past it's worth and I lost interest in wasting any more time with it? I'd assume ending the post with an overly dramatic statement like "carry on brave fellows!" would have clued anyone in that I wasn't being acrimonious. *shrugs* Sorry you feel that way. Perhaps I shouldnt have been so lackadaisical in my attempt at being lighthearted, but honestly, message board "glory" is a silly notion and isn't even close to being on my list of priorities.

Yes, I think it is rude when you have been engaging someone in a perfectly civil discussion for a couple of days, to then announce that you "didn't even bother" to read "his" last post, referring to "him" in the third person. If anything it looks like a way of disengaging from a debate you can't win while still somehow trying to have the last word.

But, never mind, these things happen and nobody really expects netiquette these days.

Damn I have to work on the 24th (this sunday) and I have the ultraviolet code, but does the live streaming event means that we only see it once? or can we see it repeatedly by using the code? cause I wont be home when it goes live, can I just enter the code on the site when I return and I'll be able to see the preview or will I miss it entirely if I don't see it when it goes live?

Even if it is a one time event you can be sure someone will rip it and upload it to a torrent site or some video sight.

I'm kind of in the same situation as you (I have a lesson in church that I have to teach/can't skip out on, and it happens at the exact time of the event).

One thing I was noticing when I was looking at the sheet of paper was this in the fine print (on the "Watch the Exclusive Worldwide Sneak Peek" side of the paper)...emphasis by me
Quote:
One non-transferable code per package. Code may be used only once to access sneak peek or register with Facebook Connect for multiple viewings. Content may not be available after 5/24/13
This seems to indicate that it will be possible to see the sneak peek footage after the live event, provided you 'register with Facebook Connect'

*shrugs shoulders* I guess we'll see... and if not, hopefully someone will manage to post it online

There's two more Hobbit movies to follow, and they've got enough material for that when the previous trilogy had only one movie per book?

There just expanding on the original Hobbit story for the extra cash in by adding in things that may not have been Tolkien's original intention to use to begin with.

I was considering waiting for the extended edition, but that digibook thing is just too cool to pass on.

I own both versions of each LOTR film, looks like I'll end up doing the same with The Hobbit.

Uh...no. Jackson has always done Extended Editions, and he made it clear from the beginning the Hobbit storyline would be a vehicle to create a larger story tying into LOTR. He isn't a huge fan of the Hobbit and only got interested because of the dwarves and that he could use it to create something bigger. This is even more obvious if you've followed the production since development hell. If this was purely about a cash grab Jackson could have made 4 or 5 films. The first film alone payed for the budget of all 3 including their marketing campaigns and then some. If it was a cash grab you would be hearing more films announced. The only reason this got turned into 3 films is that Jackson way over shot so when they assembled part 1 it was a monster. It was either drop an hour or more from AUJ or shoot some more to get enough material for 3 films. This is more to do with over shooting than a cash grab.
