Scarlet Spider's one of those books that I'd easily be reading if it weren't for prices and double-shipping. It sounds good, I like Kaine (the Clone Saga fan that I am), and I like Yost. Unfortunately, I just can't afford it.

I'm not reading it. I've been working my way through the BND Spider-Man stuff. So when I get to that point, I plan on picking up the trades of Scarlet Spider. I am excited to get to it, mostly because I live in Houston.

Uhhmmmmm... Scarlet Spider ships ONCE a month with a $2.99 price tag...

The book started in January of 2012 and has just released issue #13... there has been only ONE Point. One issue... so 14 books in 13 months...

I wasn't talking about Scarlet Spider double shipping and being $4 an issue. I mean just about every other Marvel book out there double shipping and being $4. If not for all that I'd have the money to try books like Scarlet Spider. Unfortunately, books like Scarlet Spider gets the flack when books I'm already invested in come out twice a month for a dollar more.

I'm regularly buying about 4 or 5 extra Marvel books a month due to random double shipping (most of them at $4). If they didn't do that and priced them a dollar more I'd have an extra $15-$20 a month to try things like Scarlet Spider. Unfortunately, Marvel prices me out, and when Marvel prices me out I tend to not reward them by dropping DC books. I'll try a new DC book that I'm curious about before a Marvel one, and I also try to cut from Marvel when I'm over buying due to double shippings.

It's why I've dropped books like Venom, Avengers, Secret Avengers, New Avengers, Astonishing X-Men, and Indestructible Hulk over the past year or so. I even tried the first issue of Scarlet Spider but that's as far as I got.

Is true... with flem.

I don't really do the trade thing. The only things I buy in trade are the Stuff of Legend and recently the Walking Dead (only 2 trades in). For regular ongoing stuff I only do floppies or nothing.

How do you feel about digital comics? Comixology drops the price on new issues by a dollar after a month, so you could potentially buy Scarlet Spider affordably but lag behind a bit.

I like digital less than trades. If I can't hold it then I feel like I'm throwing my money to the wind. I sell some of my Marvel digital codes for a $1 and I still feel like I'm ripping the buyer off.

I thought I'd feel that way, but I got an iPad over the holidays and I've fallen in love with Comixology pretty quickly. I'm probably gonna start selling my back-issues or donating them (aside from Thor and some other stuff that's near and dear to me) and just sticking with digital back-issues. Still gonna keep buying new issues in physical form to support my comic shops, though.

And it's been because of Yost's excellent storytelling... really fun book imo.

I have been reading it, and I think its enjoyable and entertaining enough. I still feel Venom is the better of the two (well, it's still hard to get a read on Bunn's writing, I didn't care about his first story, and there was that Maximum Carnage story, the one in Philly however was pretty good).

I wouldn't so far as to say as its great though. I'll probably still read Avenging Spider-Man, and I appreciate it now having a consistent writer (Wells and DeConnick were good, the rest were okay). Really though, the main draw for me from the start was Zeb Wells. He's had some great Spidey stories in the past.

I'm addicted to trades, I always want more. Sometimes its just much cheaper than getting the individual issues, particularly through places like Amazon.
