That's interesting because in the latin american dub, that's what the Joker says. The dubbing voices are ok, but the translation is not very good. In fact I remember bickering about how the Joker said "Whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you stronger"

So why exactly is Gordon still Commissioner at the end of TDKR? He was going to resign after telling the truth about Dent but then the mayor was planning on releasing him of his duties in the spring but none of these things ever happen. The mayor died, so I get why no one let him go, but Gordon decided to stay on the force after the truth is revealed...is it because he came out as a war hero again as during his time in TDK?

Well, he was going to resign because of he felt it was the right thing to do after revealing the truth. Since the people forgave them, I believe he was allowed to keep his position if he wanted.

Yeah Anno, I always figured it was due to him redeeming himself through his heroic actions that Gotham would be able to forgive him and that he'd want to keep going during Gotham's rebuilding period. Gordon, at the end of the day, was an idealist.

I mean yes, he lied, but he also helped saved Gotham from nuclear annihilation. If Gotham can forgive and embrace Batman as a hero (who took the initial decisive action to lie), I don't see why they couldn't give the same treatment to Gordon.

See, that's what I always thought as well. I don't see the Nolans forgetting about the plot point simply because they reminded the fans of Gordon and Blake's discussion about the lie earlier, so I highly doubt they forgot about the idea of Gordon resigning or being fired. I definitely see him being a war hero again and being able to keep his position. Even if he made this one bad choice, he isn't as twisted as guys like Flass and he definitely seemed like he cared more about the position of Commissioner than even Loeb. Him being mentioned as a "war hero" could have been a subtle hint of what is to happen to Gordon in the end of the film. He still is a war hero, even after taking the hit of the lie and its reveal, he was there with Batman and Catwoman to the very end of the fight.

I am fine with the way they handled the Dent reveal to be honest, with even the little detail of that priest asking Blake where Gordon was and Blake quickly replied by telling him the less he knows...Gordon was in hiding because of cops are being hunted down by dogs and that those 1,000 prisoners could be looking for Gordon's head as well; the ONLY extra thing I would want, and I think it would've even fit the IMAX time restraint is during Gordon's sentencing, people are tossing rotten food and other stuff at him.

Yeah, they just had his arc play out in a more subtle way than some would have preferred. They obviously didn't forget. That's like saying they forgot about the fake Batmen plot point in TDK just because it gets dropped after the first act. It actually does get some resolution, cause I always felt that by taking the blame for Harvey's crimes and becoming the bad guy, it takes care of the issue of copycats and people being inspired in the wrong way by Batman.

So sort of a similar thing with Gordon's storyline. The arc of him feeling guilt and yearning for redemption is all there, it's just that the details of that arc shift when the scope of the movie becomes much larger.

Aw, I just noticed that there's a new Batman section now for post-Nolan movies at the SHH forums. And... we lost our stickies at this section! It was bound to happen but it just makes the finality of the Nolan movies just more pronounced. It really is over for the Nolanverse.

Anyone remember ''GILL'' and his inside knowledge of these projects.I remember him feeding his tidbits here and there,I also remember him saying in like May that when TDKR came out he would reveal who he really was.Apparently he was somebody important or worked for WB.What ever happened with that and did he mention anything about the new Batman reboot and Blake?

I'm fairly certain Gill is just a fan. I think he had some kind of connection to BATMAN ON FILM a few years back, but I don't think he worked for WB.

Gill is self described as just a fan who got lucky and got to know some cool people. I can't wait for his thread either, it has been awhile but those of us who have been here awhile know his reputation and what he has come through with, so I will continue to wait patiently

Yea that got to me too. Just the situation was funny, going to Wendy's and pretending to be Bane. And I loved how the guy at the window was laughing and then 'Bane' broke character.

I love Bane in TDKR but I think he lacked the personal, philosophical battle that Bruce had with Joker. There are some great moments with Bane like his monologue in the prison but other than that it's a bit lacking. I think the movie has most of the ground work for an interesting philosophical battle but it doesn't go all the way. When Batman finally defeats Bane, the reward is not philosophical like when Bats defeats the Joker or vice versa in TDK, it's just a physical thing in Rises. There could have been more emphasis on pain and Bruce overcoming it, rather than living with it like Bane does. It's all kinda there but not as realized or compelling as TDK.

Well said, I have argued that Bane is purely a physical villain which takes away from him when compared to Ra's and The Joker
