Natalie Portman is kooky? I think the term kooky is being confused with intelligent and educated.
I've always felt that Christipher Reeve had a god like face as Superman so it is hard to beat him. But I think Henry looks damn good in his Superman promos; like he could whoop Tom, Brandon and Dean Cain's butt in a fight.

Right? Just seems like Fassbender was attempting to cover-up the fact that he slipped and reverted to his normal accent.

Buy it or not, we know he could have done a straight English accent if he wanted (like McKellen's), because he's done it perfectly before. But he said he talked it over with Matthew Vaughn, who basically told him that he envisioned Magneto as a wanderer after his teenage days, so he should just use his natural accent (which is not straight Irish as some people seem to suggest here, but rather an Irish/German mix). So he wasn't doing an accent at all, just a suppressed version of his natural one. Sure it became less suppressed on the beach, but that's not "a different accent," and I honestly don't see why that would be problem within the framework of that backstory.

Haha, the guy slipped up on his accent, they didn't have time to shoot more, came up with a (lame) excuse for it........ and I actually don't care because he was still a brilliant Magneto.
If Superman sounds generic american throughout the film and slips up once or twice, I hope he's more honest about it, rather than some "my kryptonian roots show when under stress and yes kryptonians sound british" excuse hahaha. Even if he did slip up, and make dumbass excuses... if he's genuinely good or better as Superman, again I won't care, and will thank him for the overall performance

Dude, they talked about that before anyone even saw the movie. His accent didn't "slip," as that implies he was doing an accent in the first place. It was the same throughout the entire movie, just heavier on the beach, NOT a different accent. And anyone who's watched his interviews knows that's his natural accent. It's not a "lame excuse."
This is his natural accent: VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:
His accent as Magneto was just a lighter version of that. Heavier on the beach, but still the same accent.

It was a lame excuse. Let it go. Jesus, lmao.
Keep defending it all you want, but it changes nothing.

It's not an "excuse" at all, but whatevs. I thought you all were the ones who couldn't let this nitpick go, but if you wanna move on, let's. How 'bout that Superman? Faora's costume looks good. Seeing Amy Adams on Leno made me realize I hope Henry goes on shows like Kimmel, Fallon, Conan or Ferguson when he's promoting MoS. Those interviews tend to be looser and more fun. Wasn't he already on Leno for Immortals?

I have no idea, I'd love to see him on Conan though. That would be hilarious.

I feel like Conan has a slight "in" with DC now, due to his work with DC animation, so I'm crossing my fingers for that one.

Sorry, but we already established that I completely disagree, and moved on. Let's stick to that, yeah? I swear, if I never hear the lame excuse for a phrase that is "lame excuse" again, I'll be a happy woman. ...But I'd take some new MoS footage as consolation instead.

I hope Cavill hasn't felt the need to read from Fassbender's 'Book of lame excuses'

![]() But I know, I asked for that. I'll take my new MoS footage then, please.

Talia's death was silly, but
1) it only lasts 5 seconds or so 2) it's nowhere near the "worst" ever 3) Oldman's accent never bothered me. Thus, the word nitpicking is not as important to me as MOS. |

I can answer that question. How is Gary Oldman's breaking of the accent ruining Nolan's great eye for casting? it's not.

But that is not Excelsior's point. There is more to being a "good actors' director" than just casting. It is about working with your actors on set, during takes, and getting the best possible performance out of them. Having one of your lead actor's accent slip very noticeably in a key dramatic scene and doing nothing about that is arguably something that can criticized.

I thought Cavill's American accent was fine in Blood Creek and The Cold Light of Day.
The Cold Light of Day was filmed in Spain and the only Americans in the film were Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver. The cast and crew were mostly European. Man Of Steel was filmed in the U.S and Canada with most the cast and crew being American which will probably make it easier for him to do a American accent as he would of been hearing it all day long. I'm sure people on set would of said if his accent wasn't good enough as well.

Not only did you not answer any question, you raised a false question from wrongly interpreting my words.
