I wouldn't be surprised if they let Avatar release in the December date to compete with SW. Think of the media frenzy behind it. The hugest science fiction stories clashing in the same month. It's something I could see happening. Especially if Fox is behind it.

The only thing with that though, is Disney most likely will have another marvel film coming out in may. Look to me the best thing for Disney to do is put out the numeric episodes around the holidays, most likely december, and have the spinoffs during the summer months. June would be a good target date.

Marvel movies: May, July, August, November
Star Wars movies: June, October, November, December. (spinoffs in june and October, Episodes late november or december)

Kathleen Kennedy is no longer producing Jurassic Park IV. Looks like everything and everyone is concentrated on Star Wars:

Sorry for JP4, but i'm happy to read this. It's where her focus should be with so many potential SW movies on the works.

It doesn't matter what opens around the time Star Wars is released. Whatever it is...it'll get crushed. Star Wars is a beast.

Just throwing this out there..I really would like to see some sith training, including a sith homeworld or training facility with some more hints at the mythology behind the Sith and their techniques. Something that sort of mimics the training Luke receives from Yoda. You know it already exists. Yet hasn't really been touched on hardly at all. One thing that I really liked from the prequels was the story told by Palpatine, and even though it was for a different reason, just seeing the back rooms of Palpatine's office later (when Anakin was "arresting" him) was cool.

I'm not sure that's certain after the prequels. It might be. Might not.

It is probably best for the producers to follow Han's advice. "Don't get too cocky."

Well a I think ya the prequels hurt a little bit of the franchise, but if word gets out that it's really good (assuming that will be the case) regardless it will be an unstoppable force.

It's advertising alone will make it an unstoppable force. A sequel to Return of the Jedi, actors reprising beloved roles they haven't played for 40 years. Disney's advertising machine will make the public forget there ever were any prequels.

This movie will easily make over a billion, especially with 3D. I'd bet anything on it.

That is very true. With prequels, even the PT it was a little harder, Obi/Vader were mainly the villain/side character. The main characters of the classics were Han, Luke and Leia. Having them possibly return, is something that would really get lots in the door. That and the quality I'm sure it will be.

Maybe more if Abrams is on his game. I honestly say this, it wouldn't surprise me if Episode 7 is Avatar size if it's the perfect storm. But you can never predict those.

Exactly. It already has a few factors that could send it over the moon if that "perfect storm" scenario occurs. Which, you're absolutely right, is impossible to predict.

Yeah, a film like TDK or Avatar is only ever a perfect storm scenario in hindsight. We really haven't had a genuinely good Star Wars movie since Empire and if we get something along those lines, or at worst Episode 4, then the sky is the limit for Episode 7 as it's one of if not the biggest franchise in history.

It would depend on the other film greatly, but I'll wager any amount, anyone wants to, that Episode 7, will do as least as good as the Avengers did, last Summer, don't care who the competition is...that's not to say the other film couldn't do well also...

Empire was the least successful at the box-office of all the Star Wars films within the Skywalker Saga...a movie you may end up loving, may not be enjoyed by the masses...one reason, things won't go dark, it will stay family friendly & change very little about what has been made in the past...

RotS was plenty dark, though.

True...but the Two biggest money makers, TPM & ANH were the lightest...

You must consider the circumstances, though: ANH was the big bomb that hit them without anyone knowing and TPM was the most anticipated after 16 years. It makes sense. And, after 2 bashed-to-hell Prequels, RotS made lots of dough. I don't think SW-type of darkness alienates the audiences.

Define dark? Because it is a bit too cheesy to call dark imo.

A couple gruesome images of Anakin and Sid burning, Grievous' death, lots of characters' deaths on-screen. And those particular scenes weren't cheesy at all imo (maybe Grievous dying was a tad bit cartoony).

RoTS had Wicked Witch of the West Palpatine, Grievous coming off as a mustache twirling villain, Super Obi-Wan Kenobi (I will never forget that stance) and most importantly the cringe worthy dialogue and acting between Natalie and Hayden.

Oh and there was "Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooooooo".

Killing younglings has the potential to be dark. But then you have Padme's and Obi-Wan's commentary on the matter and it all becomes one big running joke. Look how weak Padme's delivery of her line during the creation of the Empire is.

It's likely that ROTS will forever be the darkest part of the franchise...It tells Anakins Fall/Vaders Rise, has to be...And yes, it's pretty Dark for PG-13

ESB is easily the darkest. Luke in the cave by itself.
