I like Zack Snyder, I'm not sure I'd want him to direct one of the Episodes but it would be very cool to have him doing something in the Star Wars universe. He has a visual style I think would be fun for Star Wars.

Usually when they flat out deny it immediately, it's more than likely they're lying.

Dynamite meet boom.

Quote:
UPDATE: Though the Hollywood Reporter quoted Snyder's rep as saying that he "is not involved in any way with the new Star Wars," Vulture stands by its story. This reporter heard through a source very familiar with the situation that Snyder recently flew up to Marin County to meet with Lucasfilm execs about the project. When subsequently contacted by Vulture, Snyder's spokesperson would only repeat that he "is" not currently involved. One should note the possible political ramifications here of our original story break: Snyder's last Warner Bros. film, Sucker Punch, lost millions for the studio, and execs there could have become distressed at the idea of him getting involved with another studio's franchise when they have so much at stake with their upcoming Man of Steel want him available for an immediate sequel.

The only part I'm not fully sold on in this little rumor is Snyder. Not that I hate his movies or anything. He's just not a guy I root for to direct things.

Also, It seems strange timing for "Star Wars spinoff" to have a director, when Ep 7 hasn't even announced it's own. When would this hipotetical movie see theaters? Before 7? After? During? I dunno, seems a little strange.

I don't know but it seems to me they came out with that denial mighty quick.

Maybe it will get them to officially start announcing stuff this week, since it was said we would get more announcements this month. And the rumored announcement of the director. Hell they told us the writer quickly.

Exactly. I have find that very weird indeed.

Me thinks Snyder may actually wind up being the director of Episode VII.

This separate Seven Samurai SW that concides with EP VII film maybe a bit of misdirection.

WOW and there's a 3rd update for the Zack Snyder story.
Now it's Variety's input on the story. See UPDATE 3.

http://www.starwars7news.com/2013/01...star-wars.html

I wonder if Zack indeed met with Kathleen Kennedy about the Seven Samurai idea, was this his own decision or not.

P.S. There will be definitely some official announcements in the following days.

There could be a joint announcement.

Snyder directing this separate film and Vaughn directing Episode VII. I say this because I honestly think Vaughn has it. If not then Favreau.

Eheh it all started with Lucas passion for Kurosawa's work (more specifically Hidden Fortress) , so its probably appropriate that they look to another one of his masterful works.

I like Snyder , i would gladly enjoy see him doing something with Star Wars.

After the core characters, the most important thing for the next film(s) to get right is the bad guys. The designs of Darth Vader, the stormtroopers, TIE-Fighters etc worked beautifully together to make a unique futuristic/militaristic aesthetic which juxtaposed brilliantly with the dynamic of Luke et al. Nothing since has been so effective- the Clones just aren't *quite* the same.

I would like to see Alan Rickman, Mark Strong, John Hurt etc play a genuinely love-to-hate villain.

It seems suspect to me that they would invite talks with a director to make a spinoff film before they've selected a director for the f****** mainline film.

I've seen both of those videos since before RotS came out. Guys are talented, but if people complained that the Prequel duels were too dance-like, these are much worse.

That looked shoddy to me. It is one of those examples of stage-fighting where each combatant would rather turn their back on their opponent rather than simply parry. To be fair, Sir Alec did this in "A New Hope", too...

The first Ryan/Dorkman vid was better. And cut them a little slack, it was two kids making a home lightsaber vid. Although Ryan did land a job at ILM because of it.
