I like the Anston Mount choice, but how about Guy Pearce?

You never notice how superhero Mount looks when he's not all scruffy looking.

Pearce looks good, too - but Mount seems a bit more Kirby-ish.

I would be happy with Josh Brolin or Ben Affleck, too.

The important thing is to loose the "nerd" bs and make him a confident adult - maybe a little "absent minded" at most, but not even too much of that...

I like Noah Wyle for Reed. He can be nerdy, heroic and fatherly all at the same time.

Hell NO[ah] - our last Reed looked better than him!

Reed is not and should never be presented as "nerdy"..

Reed has come off nerdy in pretty much ever comic book I've ever read that featured him.

Maybe in more recent comics. But when he was originally created he was a square-jawed adventurer who had a habit of being distant due to his fascination with science. Makes sense because back when he was created scientists were considered to be authority figures.

Perhaps, but these days, nerdy is cool, so I think it could even out. I wasn't suggesting that I want Reed to come off like a character from The Big Bang Theory. Just someone with an encyclopedia-style mind. Wyle is good at that without coming off annoying.

Wyle came off real Bruce Banner/Reed Richards in that Librarian movie.

Never saw that, but he's an awesome Reed/Bruce type character on Falling Skies.

The main thing people keep forgetting that the key is a FRANCHISE. You want someone who's most likely going to look today AND ten years from now.

well look at x-men, you have most of the original cast returning after 12 years...

a trilogy may only take up to 6 years but, its nice to know the opinion is open to bring them back for more, if you can

A hell of a lot more than three!

If they can do 20 something Bond movies over 50 years, why not the FF?

Think BIG!

40 is fine, its the 45-50+ y.o. suggestions that I'd have concerns about, in terms of how well they would age over the course of the series (rather is just a trilogy or beyond)

I'd quite like to see David Tennant in the role.

They should be fine casting an actor up to about 45 years old. Early forties would be good for Reed.

May be too old but, I think John Hawks would make a terrific Reed. Incredible actor, extremely likable.

Richard Armitage. Hopefully by the time he's finished on the Hobbit Trilogy he could be made available for this. Like the idea of Billy Crudup too.
