If Richard Armitage wasn't busy with the hobbit I think he might make a good Reed.

Ultimate Fantastic Four would disagree with you. The entire run featured a 21 year old genius Reed Richards recruited into a government think tank as a teen. That's where he meets Sue and Johnny. Their dad runs the think tank (the Baxter Building). There's something more interesting and less boring about a young adult genius Reed Richards. They also pushed the boundaries with science and exploration.

That's something the new franchise need to do to really separate itself from the previous franchise and establish itself as it's own. Personally I would vote for Zachery Levi or Christopher Gorman for Reed.

If they do go with an Ultimate version of Reed, I really hope they don't make him go evil. I just hated that in the Ultimate run.

I wonder who could play an Ultimate Reed?

I would say Nicholas Hoult, but he's playing Beast so....

I think Levi is a good choice. I would still prefer older, but I wouldnt balk at the younger version

Yeah he plays the likable leader really well. And he does geeky without be irritating as the previous Reed often was. I think ultimately they need an actor you accept as genius but can still relate to. Something equivalent what they did with Tony Stark but obviously not with his personality. I think if they can nail Reed as a proper leading man then the rest of the team would work well. I think that's what failed last time. While Ben and Johnny worked well, Reed, Sue and Doom fell flat. Zachery I think would be perfect.

I was wondering this the other while re-watching the first movie with my little nephew, is there a reason in the comics where Reed gets the grays?

I like how the Ultimate comics use a military cut of sorts to replace Reeds classic white and brown hair.

He always had the touch of gray, it was just to show that he was a little older and wiser.

I had a strange thought entering my head the other day as I know it'll never happen but what if Ben Affleck played Reed Richards and George Clooney played Ben Grimm?!

God, he was so on my list for a Deathstroke type character, or a somewhat older Bruce for a Batman reboot. But Damn if I can see this now. Sure, Reed may be more of an intellectual type than what he does on BURN NOTICE but he also does those great analytical voice overs. Plus I don't want "Nerdy/geeky" vibes only from Reed. Jeff would bring a real confidence to the character.

I dunno if he's been mentioned, but I think Chris Messina is a really good choice for Mr. Fantastic. He's really good at playing intellect and, sometimes, arrogance. He's a really great actor, and he's got the comic timing for the lighter moments.

You may know him from Argo, Devil, Ruby Sparks, Damages, The Mindy Project, The Newsroom.. Guy gets around.

Default Miles Teller In Contention To Play Mr. Fantastic

Quote:
Which 'Spectacular Now' Star is Being Eyed for 'Fantastic Four?' (Exclusive)

Miles Teller is spectacular now, but will he be fantastic in the future?

For the first edition of "What's the Deal?," TheWrap film reporter Jeff Sneider dishes on how the "Spectacular Now" star is in contention to play Mr. Fantastic in 20th Century Fox's reboot of "The Fantastic Four" -- this according to multiple individuals familiar with the comicbook movie.

It would be a huge role for the budding star: Mr. Fantastic, also known as Reed Richards, is the leader of the Fantastic Four, which also includes superhero siblings Sue Storm (Invisible Woman) and Johnny Storm (Human Torch), as well as Ben Grimm (The Thing).

Insiders caution that there is still a lot of work to be done on the "Fantastic Four" script and that Fox hasn't even brought on a casting director yet. That said, the CAA-repped Teller has met with Trank and is rumored to be the director's top choice.
