One of the realest people Manti knows is someone who isn't real.

Honestly, Manti and Ronaiah have made themselves look like pathological liars out of this whole thing.
It's like Memento levels of mind ****.

Manti Te'o, did he have a relationship too with the fake U'ilani Rae Kekua? Who was really Ronaiah Tuiasosopo.
Te'o said U'ilani Rae Kekua was one of the realist people he knew. Did he have long conversations with this imaginary person too? Or did he know that it was Tuiasosopo? It seems to be pointing in the direction that Te'o was in on this whole thing, and now the next thing to come is why all of this was perpetrated to begin with? Publicity? Covering up his sexuality? What?

The NFL and College Sports is one of them. It's so much of a boy's club, and really undermines the whole notion of it being "manly" (I mean, I think that's BS, but that seems to be the line of thinking).

And where the hell is Marquis Tuiasosopo? A damn fine quarterback from the last time Washington was really good.

Yeah, it boosted his votes because a lot of people took into factor the idea that he just suffered great emotional losses and still came out to perform at a high level. That easily grabbed the attention of a lot of people. Without the tragedy, it probably would have just been looked at as a average performance to another nameless player.

Manti Te'o is basically the real life, male version of Jan from The Brady Bunch.

I'm also curious as to how much the school knew, and if they were covering it up a bit too, or if they are gullible too and fell for his story. I think in this day and age in sports, after seeing all the steroid stuff in baseball, and now the confession of Lance Armstrong, its hard to believe athletes, especially when they are in a position to lose so much.

It's Notre Dame, of course they are covering it up.
Remember the story a couple years back (think it was 2010) about the girl who accused one of the football players of raping her than she killed herself 10 days later. They completely brushed that under the table and no charges or investigation ever came of it. The accused player just played in the BCS game a couple weeks ago. Notre Dame is the KING of cover-ups when it comes to their football team. |

Yeah, when I saw video of the guy speaking at the News Conference yesterday, I felt like part of it looked a bit staged, but people were talking about how impactful his speech was. But then after hearing he used to be a lawyer and was a good judge of character, I really felt like there was more to the story because a lawyer would know how to twist the truth around to make the people he was representing look like victims.

Personally, coming from someone who works in PR, I thought the presser was laughable. It was clearly put together last minute with absolutely no forethought especially with all the information that was out there to the public.
ND's statement and Te'o's statement don't add up with the facts of the story and they did an awful job of addressing that. Not to mention they admitted to knowing about it on Dec. 26th but yet they still sat on it and let him ride that story for as long as he could. |

Yeah, to me, there's a lot that doesn't add up and actually has me skeptical as to who and what to believe at this point.
But what shocks me more is how much the media is believing, in terms of how much of a victim Manti and ND is in all of this. Although I guess this has more to do with the fact that most of them don't even know what to believe at this point. I think Stephen A. said it best in that people don't want to believe that Manti being involved can be true because they don't want to believe that someone would do such a thing.

At this point, he really has to admit he's gay. Because there's absolutely no way the fallout from that will be worse than the continuing fallout from this. In fact it might make people a bit more sympathetic and forgiving towards him.

I predict in the next 24 hours we will learn some, none, or some of none of the following:
- Manti Te'o and Ronaiah Tuiasosopo killed someone in a car accident and created the death of a fake girl as a media diversion. - Ronaiah Tuiasosopo was actually Lennay and U'ilani Rae Kekua... but Ronaiah Tuiasosopo is actually Manti Te'o. - Manti Te'o WAS actually duped into thinking Lennay was real because he's schizophrenic and has spent hours talking on the phone to a dial tone. - While everyone is assuming that Ronaiah Tuiasosopo came up with this entire scheme after watching the pseudo-documentary Catfish, the truth is it is actually based on Cloverfield. Expect a giant lizard beast to attack New York at any given moment. - Manti Te'o is not gay. However, Lennay and U'ilani Rae Kekua have been having a lesbian incestuous relationship for years in the mind of Reagan Maui'a.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Might as well just do it to try and save face, I'm sure he can spin it around if he comes out and get some support from GLAAD while he's at it saying he's the victim in a society where gay athletes have to hide who they are.

Yeah, that is true. It would be really interesting then to see where he ends up in the NFL draft. Some teams would probably shy away from drafting him, citing the scandal as the reason (even though we would all know that's not the case).

Not to mention, you risk outrage over the Mormon community. I don't know much about them, but if they're anything like the Christian community, you can expect the fanatics and most vocal member to call for his head and create their own kind of negative publicity. So I can easily see why he would try to avoid all of this, especially at this point where he's not in the league yet, and could risk having his stock drop greatly in the coming months.
