it wouldn't even be close. and since the first film in the abrams series was basically star wars anyway, i think they should combine universes for the sequel. discuss.

Star Trek Deep Space Nine was basically Star Wars, in fact it OUT-STAR WARSed Star Wars. Here's one random battle from the Dominion War... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbGs93JFfb0

Of course, you do know what a Death Star does to capital ships?? The Rebellion found out the hard way getting many of their big ships destroyed.

Yes but the Dominion suicide bombs, they'll just ram all their ships into the Death Star...ha but it still wouldn't make a difference because it's so damn huge.

Or the Empire could simply go to the Dominion's homeworld & simply destroy the entire planet.

Unfortunately, Star Trek's technological development is so far ahead of Star Wars it would be like soldiers from World War I going up against today's Navy Seals.
The Star Trek ships could beat the Star Wars ships by just using their transporter and replicator technology alone.

Star Trek technology is much more advanced than Star Wars. Though Star Wars uses "magic" (otherwise known as the force), so in battle they could have a bigger advantage.
If that's what you want to argue, then Star Trek could easily bring out the Q, who could snap their fingers and make Darth Vader and the Empire disappear just like that. Not that he would, but he would do anything to protect his "friend" Jean Luc Picard. Another thing is that you are missing the point of Star Trek. The Enterprise is not a war ship, but an exploration vessel. Its about exploring the galaxy, reaching out for new life forms and getting to know them. "Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before."

I was referring to the "How Star Trek Should Have Ended" video. Not the movie.

The force is more of a religion thing and in the Star Trek science trumps religion.

I never understood the point of trying to figure out who would win, the Empire or the Federation. Does it really matter?

I'd rather not have a Star Wars vs. Star Trek debate here. Very pointless.

No, actually, that's not it at all. You can fight over which is better all you want, but you can never "prove" one is better than the other. At the end of every argument, Star Wars fans will still be Star Wars fans, and Trekkies will still be Trekkies. Why not sit back and enjoy what you're a fan of? A battle between the two defeats the purpose of being a fan of either.
