![]() SF will pass TDKR in the next couple of days! from Boxofficemojo: http://boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=3617&p=.htm Around-the-World Roundup: 'Django' Repeats, 'Skyfall' Opens Huge in China With a few minor cuts, Skyfall opened to an incredible $34.4 million in its first seven days in China. That's nine percent ahead of The Dark Knight Rises and four percent ahead of The Amazing Spider-Man. I hope by the time of the Blu-Ray release, we'll hear more about the next Bond. If it doesn't come out in 2014, then it'll be 2015. But 2015 is super packed already. (Though easily I don't see Justice League coming out by then, and JJ's hesitant of 2015 deadline for Star Wars. Then you have Avatar 2 in the winter which will be a monster.)

Both The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day go south at the same time for me. When the chick shows up. They both have pretty phenomenal openings as well as the first half hour or so

Oh, Die another Day is great! At least...the opening 30 minutes...except the snowboarding. It's pretty much when Halle shows up it goes crap. TWINE is pure mindless fun for me, really. I don't love it, I don't dislike it, it's just kinda a fun bond movie for me.

I think the problem with Brosnan's last two movies is that it tried to balance serious and comedy in the same way Goldeneye did and failed. Both start pretty serious but the humor falls flat and then the gimmicks start coming in and it becomes a mess, which led to Casino Royale.

I agree. I love Die Another Day before Halle Berry shows up. The film seriously declines when it gets to that beach scene.

Funny enough, I felt the same way about TWINE. jacobed said it best. The World is Not Enough I felt was getting weaker beforehand, but it completely fell apart when Denise Richards came on screen.

Goldeneye is my favourite from Brosnan, as it is with pretty much everybody. Tomorrow Never Dies is nothing spectacular but I quite like it. My favourite part is when Brosnan sits back in his chair waiting for Paris, drinking vodka one after another with his silenced PPK in hand, ala Bond waiting for Dent in Dr No. Not the biggest fan of his other two. They do have good moments - love the sword fight in DAD and the competitive, one-upsmanship streak which is so Bond, but as a whole they aren't that good. I did like Brosnan in the role, though.

Agreed. TND might have gone the same way(and lets be honest, it's still not among the best Bond films) except that there we were lucky to have Michelle Yeoh who helped the film considerably.

Nah just a conspiracy to hurt the success of US blockbusters in china despite the fact their populace can't get enough of them.

What would be the point in that? China profits from the success of the films too.

They may love the money those movies may rake in from them but they still dislike american culture and the impact they feel it has on it's populace. They much rather have Chinese films be more popular than american ones. It is a very nationalistic government. |

As if there aren't worse things the Chinese government needs to worry about. "Oh God no, not that damn Batman and Spider-Man!"
