Otherwise, I'm not interested.
I met Dave Prowse about a year ago at a book signing of his autobiography - I still have the signed photo somewhere. He told me that he's been having back trouble and finds it difficult to walk much anymore, which is sad. Don't expect him donning the suit again.

I'd love if a lot of the old SW guys who can't be in the new movies got cameos in a Mos Eisley sequence or something.

As a ghost or vision? Yes. In the flesh (and cables)? No.

As a clone? 70% no. Timothy Zahn used Joruus C'Baoth in his Thrawn trilogy and made it work. Vader is infinitely more iconic, but Zahn's way COULD have a chance in a million to work.

That is a shame. It`s so crappy that we have to get old.

That would be a nice touch of respect.

I vote no. I think his story is told. Time for a fresh start with new characters.

I voted for "only as a flashback"

I would like to see a new big villain and preferably, a female.

I'd hate everything about the new trilogy if they bring Vader back.

Now, I'd be okay with Vader being a main character in a movie that takes place between ROTS & ANH. The most iconic movie villain has to return to the big screen some day after all.

Yes.. Darth Vader is a "symbol" of fear and control. Someone in the imperial fleet will want to take up his mantle after he was killed and wear his symbolic armor as the new Darth Vader.. Perhaps... a descendant relative...close in the force?... someone who wants to take up his grandfathers mantle?

But the costume should change a little such as get rid of the chest controls/life support. since the new Darth will not need it.

The voice should stay the same since it was digitally synthesized anyway within the suits mouth piece. so the new Vader..if he so chooses to use the same exact synthesizer.. if he can find it.. maybe watto has one... *wink wink*... can sound just like the Vader from the past.

No, not at all. To me it would most likely come off as a weak and obvious attempt at tying the new films with the others. They don't need that, they will likely have a lot of other connective tissue that is actually relevant to the story they are telling. The story arc with Vader has concluded and it is time for a new one, possibly/probably with Luke's offspring. Plus if Vader were to appear in any substantial form it would likely overshadow the new villain of the piece, who is a character they will have to handle with care.

Oh God I hope not. It would be so cheap to bring back Vader rather than creating a new (hopefully great) villain.

This.

I just feel like if they try to revive Vader, it comes off as a cheap gimmick. If they have someone take up the mantle, it comes off as them trying to shoehorn Vader into the story (which really, any attempt is.) All it says to me is "Remember this? Wasn't this awesome! Wasn't he even more awesome before the prequels! Well, he's back and Lucas isn't here to mess him up now!"
(Again, as a prequel defender, I don't think Vader was destroyed by the prequels. In fact, I think some of the post-ROTS comics did that, by insinuating Vader didn't really kill that many Jedi, but that word of mouth said he did, creating fear around him.)

Funny enough, the first "Purge" one-shot comic. Vader does kill one or two Jedi, but also pretty much gets his ass kicked. Clones show up, take out the remainders, and then Palps shows up and tells Vader the galaxy doesn't have to know he didn't kill them all. I don't have the exact dialogue, but I believe he basically says Vader needs to be built up as a symbol of power to be feared, but doesn't actually have to be.

From Wookiepedia:
Quote:
Vader quickly dispatches one of the Jedi, Sia-Lan Wezz, and while fighting the other Jedi, promptly disposes of another, Ma'kis'shaalas. Shadday is able to corner Vader and dispose of his lightsaber blade with the cortosis weapon, but then Vader uses the Force to grab Shadday. He conquers her weapon, then snaps her neck. Using the cortosis blade, Vader disables the lightsabers of Roblio Darté and Arana. The Aleena Choi manages to sever Vader's hand and, with help from the others, bring him to "surrender". Arana does not believe that Vader is sincere, and when Bultar protests and points out the Jedi do not take the lives of unarmed opponents, Arana takes Bultar's saber, kills her, and heads after Vader. However, he underestimates him and Vader sends the cortosis blade still held by his hand through Arana with a wave of the hand, and grabs a spare lightsaber dropped by one of the dead Jedi. The three remaining Jedi rally together, and use the Force to send debris hurling at Vader. Almost incapacitated, Tsui Choi finally decides that it is necessary to finish Vader off, when a contingent of stormtroopers show up, and begin firing. Jastus Farr is fired upon and falls to his death, while Choi distracts the troopers for a chance for Darté to escape. But due to unexpected interference from Vader it is useless, and the two remaining Jedi succumb to the barrage of blaster fire. Vader returns to Coruscant, where his purge of the Jedi conclave has been forged into a legendary rumor that states Vader tracked down a nest of fifty Jedi and destroyed them all.
He actually killed like 5 or something.

Lol, 't tell if that is a sarcastic thanks for making you remember

Eh, that's one reason I don't care for the midichlorian thing, because Lucas and a few EU sources after the prequels really wanted to play up how not-powerful Vader was by losing his limbs because now he had less to conduct the force with or whatever. I honestly think thats a terrible thing when it coems to the forc,e I just think Anakin should have been the most open to it, and had a stronger connection, not literally given him more Force, so to speak, than everyone else. Basically, it gave everyone the option, as is the case in Purge, to take Vader down a peg.

Edit: My God I can't type tonight.

It was an honest thanks. But now that you inceptioned me, it's also a sarcastic one.

I agree things got a bit too literal with the PT.

I have to agree with what most are saying. Darth Vader's story is done. It was a classic story and the book is closed now. No need to revisit.

Nah, gimme a fresh Sith. To me, at least 10 year old me, Maul was the most fun thing about the OT. If they can make a cool character like that, but with the weight and depth of Vader, then I'm sold.
