It's supposed to be a mystery so I doubt we'll hear anything about it, whether it be rumor or fact.

But personally, I still don't think they'll reveal the mother this season. I still think they'll at least save it for the premiere next season. They'll end this season with Ted saying "Hi" to her, but they won't show her face, that way they have the summer break to figure out who they want and where they want to go with that story.

I don't want to know who the mother is until her face is shown on screen.

Same. They've been building to this for so long, it would be awful for them to reveal it with a casting announcement.

If you go that route, there's too many opportunities for word to get out about who is playing her, I think. Give us a first glimpse of her in the finale, but bring in several other actresses to throw off the scent. They can be Barney's former conquests or whatnot...

Loved The Fortress. I didn't realise until the end how Ted was kind of doing one of Barney's plays so when he hugged him and the end it got a big laugh out of me.

I was cracking up at Barney's whole "Can you just be cool? For once? Seriously?" when Ted opened the closet door and inturrupted him during his Fortress scene.

Great episode tonight. Although I will admit that there were a few points where I felt like I got mind-****** with how the story was told. But overall, I was really happy with the amount of focus placed on Ted and his story.

I think tonight was a pretty clear example of the writers going ahead and saying "No more bull****" in regards to where they're heading with Ted and the Mother.

And I couldn't be happier.

But, yeah, some of it was pretty trippy. I thought I was being Incepted...

My brother yelled out "Inception!" when it was revealed to all be in Ted's head.

I think the part that really got me confused is when Barney said Ted was imagining something that happened 5 years ago, simply because there were several references and actions that wouldn't have made sense back then, such as the Dancer's Hip and Barney and Robin being together.

Well it's not like he was literally flashing back to that time. Just like he couldn't have known at that moment, that he would meet the mother in 45 days time.

It was a boredom/loneliness fueled daydream.

Ted's speech hit me right in the feels tonight, because I really wasn't at all expecting it.

With how emotional Ted was at the end of the episode and the overall tone of the realization that he was alone, it makes me wonder if the mother is dead in the present. How sad and awesome would that be?

I was thinking the same thing, just based on the line "I want 45 more days with you." After the stuff they did with Robin not being able to have kids, I wouldn't put it past the to go that dark with Ted.

The thought crossed my mind. I'd find it a bit odd with how these future narrations are presented, though. Future Ted sounds a bit.... jovial.

OUTSTANDING episode. Although I'd be lying if I said it didn't cross my mind that the mother might be dead....although I really hope that they don't go that route. It would be incredibly unfair to Ted. :-/

Probably more likely. He's spent eight years on his search for "the one" and at this point in the story, he's really at the end of his rope. He's done with dating, he just wants to get to the end of this chapter in his life.

How I Met Your Mother Season Finale Mystery: Is Happy Endings' Casey Wilson You-Know-Who?!

How I Met Your Mother has landed a simply a-mah-zing guest star.

Happy Endings‘ Casey Wilson has signed on to appear in the CBS comedy’s May 13 season finale, TVLine has confirmed.

According to Vulture, which first broke the news, Wilson and Key and Peele’s Keegan-Michael Key will play a couple having dinner at the same restaurant as bride and groom-to-be Robin and Barney.

What does it mean? Could Wilson be The One? Is this much ado about nothing beyond a fun one-off appearance? Theories below, please!

It was definitely a weird, yet clever way to tell that particular story. And its funny because I just saw a re-run of the episode where Ted almost hooked up with Robin in season 1, and they did something similar back then when they had Ted talk with Victoria even though it was all in his head. I never really noticed it until now, but those moments really worked well in that they could have easily been a real conversation between the two, but since it was really just Ted talking to himself, it worked even better.

But I think this news will be more of a red herring since I still don't expect them to reveal the mother or the casting for this season.
