Imagine in a few weeks...reports of finally catching an person posing as Hans Zimmer on websites and chatrooms and even using his credit card...! And it all starts over again.

Crap songs with melodies too...I think it's obvious that's not what people tend to hold dear and look for in other works.

I hope Zimmer will perform a live performance of the theme at the movie premiere (like with Inception). Imagine all those fifteen drummers under a roof!

Zimmer is full of crap; he said the same things about the Batman score and how there'd eventually be a definitive theme for the character once he matured. That never happened, although many people have considered it to be Molossus.

I think we can expect the same for Superman.

To be fair, it's not that Zimmer knew that Batman would go into retirement for about half a decade. I'm sure he, like many, thought there would be a stronger arc of Batman intensifying his career.

Not sure if its been mentioned here yet but there's a deluxe version of the soundtrack on Amazon for pre-order. No pics, literally just the item is listed, I'll be getting it for sure but what I'm not so sure on is whether to give it a listen before Ive seen the film (the soundtrack goes on sale June 11th).

Has anyone done this before, perhaps with TDK etc, listened to the score first - has it made hearing the score during the film in the cinema even better, being familiar with it already?

It's usually disappointing because you'll get pumped up for a track to play during the film but it'll be mixed completely different. Or, even better, non-existent (Like a Dog Chasing Cars).

I personally do that whenever possible, as it definitely helps me appreciate the score more on first viewing. Plus, it goes a long way toward whetting my appetite for the actual film, lol.

Also, they are typically used in country and blues. So their use seems to be an attempt to tie the score into Clark's Kansas upbringing.

More I listen to the scoring on the trailer, the more I like it. And the more I get the sense that the 1-5, 1-4, 1-3 main hook is basically going to be the main 'theme'....with a B and chorus in ether that do their thing.

Might be a it simplistic for some, but it leaves a lot of room to throw things and build around it. It's not quite as nice as the Tron Legacy main hook/theme (which starts with a very similar 1-5, 1-4, 1-minor3, then 1-2 and resolves nicely). But it does sort of give a sense of inspiration, rather than brute power or awe......a nice touch for Superman as opposed to other characters.

More importantly...I know this is just a small sample, but it sounds more 'acoustic' and organic to me...which is a nice break from a lot of more bombastic and electronic Zimmer scores....which still may come into play, of course. This has a chance to be my favorite of his, even though I'm not his biggest fan, I'm diggin' it so far.

Yeah, that's why, as I mentioned earlier, I thought they'd be exclusive to the Smallville scenes.

So the trailer music is from the score. Good to have it confirmed.

This score is a very sought after piece of merchandise.

Sorry, missed that post. Been half-skimming this thread because of the excessive (in my opinion) debate regarding the providence of the trailer music. Limiting the pedal steel guitar to Smallville scenes seemed too conventional and expected for Zimmer in my opinion. That is what a mediocre composer or fan film would do. It's kind of obvious which is why it is the thought that most of us jumped to first. I think people couldn't think of it used for anything other than a country-style riff. Based on the rest of Zimmer's interview, I was/am expecting him to use it far more unconventionally and widely. If they are used in the main "theme" (for lack of a better word), it underlines how important Clark's Smallville upbringing was in making him Superman, which to me can only be a good thing.

The music from 1.14 to 1.29 in the trailer sounds perfect for if they have Henry perform a barrel roll, a la STM, when Superman is patrollng Metropolis for the very first time.

When it comes to his TDK scores Zimmer's all talk and has no substance to back it up. I remember his poor excuse for why Batman didn't have a big theme in BB. Something along the lines of he hadn't earn it yet b/c he was beginning or whatever. Which is code for he couldn't think of one as iconic as Elfman's or one at all. After batman sacrificing himself to save Gotham in TDKR you think he would've earned his theme. And yet Batman still doesn't have a big theme. So again Zimmer's full of hot air. Just like how he conned millions all over the world to record their own voices chanting "Deshi Basara" to create a sound that would be heard in TDKR. Where was it b/c I sure didn't hear it in the movie? I'll give Zimmer the benefit of the doubt on MOS. Eventhough I've done the same for his TDK scores and I was still unimpressed.

I heard it's going to be the original soundtrack and a limited edition deluxe. Both two discs.

The liner notes oughta be interesting though. Especially after reading Nolan's eyeroll inducing note for TDKR. Calling Zimmer a "master". I couldn't stop facepalming while reading his entire note. I thought the Zimmer worshipping was crazy up here, but Nolan took it to a whole another level. If Snyder gives a note I'm sure it'll be just as ridiculous on the high praise and worshipping of Zimmer.

Just building a sample library...which he proceeds to drench in reverb and low end boost.
