Quote:
This perspective on Superman, the German-born composer said, is something that he came by in part because he's a foreigner. "I think partly what we foreigners are good at is looking at America, not in a judgmental way, but wide-eyed, and seeing the things you take for granted and presenting them in a new way," he added. "Like for 'Thelma and Louise' and the Grand Canyon, most American kids wouldn't want to go there for their holiday, but to us it's a magical, magnificent place."

Sonically, this treatment of America comes across via a grouping of pedal steel guitars (instead of the usual string section), banging titanium and steel sculptures, and organizing "a who's who of drummers" in a 12-member drum circle, including Jason Bonham, Sheila E. and Pharrell Williams. "The great thing about Superman is that everybody loves Superman," Zimmer said with a laugh. "It's very easy making the call and saying, 'Hey, can you come?' I remember phoning Pharrell and him saying, 'I'm right in the middle of producing the Beyonce album in Miami.' 'Jason Bonham's in Miami, and he's getting on a plane!' Next morning, there's Pharrell, looking a little bleary-eyed."

I love how Hans Zimmer approaches music. That last article shows why he's one of the best in the industry.

I've been trying to get an idea how pedal steel guitars would sound right in a MOS soundtrack.

Now I could imagine some Smallville scenes with music like this:
VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

That would be cool. Something different from what we usually get in such movies. I like that Hans was thinking outside the box. I have a feeling the score will be very special and also very diverse since he has to tackle so many different things (Krypton, Zod, Smallville, Supes...)

Sounds damn good. Cant wait to hear it. Really.

He says some great things about the direction they're going with all his hints at the story and the heart of it. Sounds like he wrote it, hehe.

I was watching the trailer, and thinking about the score..I think that, if you put a new one, instead of the "gladiator-like" one, you feel something very different..A score changes a lot, the mood, the feeling towards the images, you know..in my mind the whole thing has settled with that theme now..It gave me an idea of an ethereal theme recurring throughout the film, and now we're about to have the official one, that may be very distinct and different..Pure mental digressions

The fact Zimmer knows he has a daunting task makes me like the journey even more. The bravery and new conceptualisations. The man of steel, thus bang titanium and steel sculptures. Simple idea but darn cool, IMO. And sounds like mixed in with drumming, perhaps in a military-esque way.

I'm thinking based on these quotes, Hans' theme/sound will bring the heart of Smallville, Clark's upbringing and values, tinged with the alieny birthplanet of Krypton.

Amazing interview, got me even more hyped for MoS based on what he's saying about Snyder and co's direction with the character.

The theme Zimmer has is very reminiscent of Williams score but still it's own thing and I felt really fits the tone of the film.

God, I really disliked that "Lion King" music in the new trailer. I'm desperately hoping that's not the score of the movie.

It IS the score of the movie. Hans Zimmer tweeter "Let us know what you think".

Yea I'm not going to lie I was slightly underwhelmed it's good but he's done so much better.

That Bible Track for example, that was magical and Heroic at the same time "The Beginning" track that was amazing in the bible series.

I was really hoping for something like that.
