I said this in the discussion thread but the score comes across like an inverted version of the Williams score. They share elements yet go off in almost opposite directions.

I was hoping for something like "The Last Samurai" main theme, to be honest. However, if that's just a taste, the prelude to the main theme, then yes, it's nice.

do we know yet if the music we hear in the most recent trailer is indeed for the movie?

I'm a huge fan of John Williams theme, but let me tell you after watching the trailer for the second time it hit me how catchy and memorable this new theme is. It's probably just an abbreviated taster of Zimmer's entire theme, but it certainly has an epic heroic feel imo. I'm hooked!! That's one thing the Marvel films (Thor aside) lack, decent themes. Based on the trailer, Zimmer nailed this.

LOVED the score i heard in the trailer

there are some similar elements to Williams' epic score, but Zimmer's stands out on its own

I remember when i first heard zimmer's batman score in the 2nd and 3rd theatrical trailers for Begins i was a little let down but then in the final film with the final mix and master and fleshed out orchestral sounds it BLEW me away.

I already on board with this new theme hes developing and im glad he's paying homage while reinventing Williams' theme!!!

Don't get ahead of yourself. A lot of people in the Trailer thread were underwhelmed with it. Relax.

And a lot of people doubt it's the film's score to begin with.

Is it me or is there a hint of "Thus spoke Zarathustra" in Zimmer's theme right before Superman takes off? If it is intentional that is very clever as TSZ was used a lot for the Apollo moonshots (at least in the UK) in the 60's and 70's. Very appropriate for something unbelievably powerful (like the Saturn V or The MOS) lifting off.

I hear some A.R. Rahman music in there as well. If anybody know A.R. Rahman music, he also did a music collaboration with Zimmers at one of the Oscars

Well it's very drum heavy, and we know Zimmer used a cadre of drummers for the score. That seems to me at least, to be an indication that it actually might be "The" theme.

My thoughts (originally posted on another forum):

On the music....

First off, I don't know if it's what we're getting in the movie or not.

The first half definitely sounds like '90s style Zimmer (Broken Arrow in particular).

VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

The drums in the second half certainly sound what you might expect a room full of rock drummers playing together to sound like...

But Zimmer's production sound has gotten bigger and bigger over the last decade...and this seems kind of thin overall. They could just have the music turned down to make more room for the (often reverb heavy) dialogue, though.

Personally, my vote is that at most, this is music inspired by what Zimmer's got in store for us. Probably written by one of the regular trailer music houses.

Sound like Sheila E was drumming away to her heart contend with the terrible electronic drumming. Sorry that drumming part was just terrible. More rock and roll than a orchestra symphony.

I thought it was very "meh." He gets kudos for going beyond two notes for this superhero, but the theme overall was more generic than the Avengers theme, which is saying a lot. The least impressive part of the trailer by far.

I'll have to watch and listen to the trailer again. Only seen it once.

I did not care the piece in the trailer. I appreciate Zimmer deviating a little from his typical "wall of sound" but the motif didn't grab me. My initial thought when Zimmer was confirmed is that he would be wrong for Superman and so far I haven't changed that stance. I would like to.

I though the end music (the "epic" part) from the 2nd trailer was super generic.

This new piece is amazing

I was weary at first, because it sounded like Lion King drumming. But it gets put to realllly good effect by the end.

It's sounding less and less like any of us have heard Zimmer's score, yet:
