I doubt we're going to get a brand new composer. Either Ottman will just be the editor, and Henry Jackman will once again score (a great option) or Ottman will return as both the editor and composer (another terrific option).

It's basically a win-win.

Dig the X3 theme much more. Ottmans score is solid throughout but the actual themes by Powell were better written imo. I want a new and better X theme regardless.

I agree.Unless Bryan SInger decides to just have John Ottman as editor and
to have some contunity keep Henry Jackman as composer It will likely be Ottman.

The fact Bryan has called DOFP more It's own thing instead of true sequel to first Class or Last Stand makes me think Ottman will likely compose DOFP.The last time he hasn't done a film by Bryan was first X-Men.Some directors keep same composers on their films(Like John Williams does steven Spielberg's films)
so It shouldn't surprise anyone that he would have ottman as composer.Which would be first time a composer has done 2 x-men films.

John Powell as comoser was one of few good decsions Brett Ratner made on Last Stand.

Singer doesn't say it quite like that, but, in yesterday's HitFix interview, he says it's not so much a sequel--it's more of it's own kind of thing.

curious to know where singer is going with this film, after all he doesn't see it as a sequel

i do hope the first class crew have alot of screen time, i really do want to see more of Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy as Xavier and Magneto

I think he's calling DoFP its own thing because its setting is completely different to what X-Men movies had before. I.e. the 70s and the apocalyptic future. In the same way perhaps that Wolverine is not really a sequel to X3.

Well, Fox want their big epic X-Men movie NOW.

All I can say is, thank god The Avengers didn't come out before First Class, otherwise they might have not made what is a relatively low-key (and IMO effective because of it) origin film.

So they are finally gonna show how Magneto met Toad? It would be hilarious to see Peter Dinklage play as the younger version of Toad.

I think they should have released a straight First Class sequel first, that will introduce the younger version of Cyclops, Jean and Storm before doing DOFP. But The Avengers did play a role in the decision making of what the next X-Men film should be and DOFP was already their concept for X4.

Im like totally cyked for this movie now more than ever that I've been doing some expanding on some key scenes from X2 and X3. Like the part when Jean leaves the Jet, and from X3: Jean/Scott scene...Jean/Logan and Jean and Xavier... Also wrote a scene where Scott helps Jean with her powers in some way...

That could still happen. Just because Famke, James and Halle have not/may not be cast in this film doesn't mean that other as-yet unnamed actors won't be cast as younger versions of Jean, Scott and Storm. Perhaps by time this film's story takes place the adult version of Storm has been killed in the Sentinel war, and we already know what status X3 has placed the other two. Time travel could undo all of these things.

I'm holding out hope for this.

Storm, Jean and Cyclops may not have good enough purpose to appear as main characters (like how they should) in this movie, but they sure could have a brief cameo towards the end (as a changed future). This way it will be cool to see them and people will expect the sequel. This in a way would change whatever they see as mistake in making the original trilogy. Jean's Phoenix power could be explained differently, should they wish to continue with the story. Or the sequel could focus on the first class characters once again.

Besides the fact they are both huge ass movies neither do I. They are following up on both movies characters but its probably rebooting it with one or the other.This could be the end for one of them. Avengers is four complete separate movie characters that all crossover into eachother and then continue on in solos then back for more. FC and X Men are about the same characters and team. Its an actor crossover but I dont see how thats actually on the same level as a follow up event....yet at least. Until they separate the timlines from being connected, just seems its the next X Men movie with a huge cast.

I don't see much connection between The Avengers and DoFP either apart from big scale. The Avengers is basically a whole new series which have been created by pooling together the characters from several separate series. DoFP is putting together the casts from the same X-Men series and it is essentially just another X-Men movie.
