I thought it would be ironic if Xavier in a new body could walk in the future and Magneto was in a wheelchair. And in the past, Magneto is walking and Xavier is in the wheelchair. |

Edit: Wrong thread
I like that Bryan's tweeting out stuff like that. Helps keep hype up, imo. Wish more directors would do the same. Last edited by BatsDC; 02-18-2013 at 06:28 PM. |

Its always gonna a big deal (especially to fans) when you kill a major X-Men member. Whether the execution is good or not.

Yeah, I agree, because nothing sells a dystopian future in an alternate timeline with not repurcussions for future films than everyone daisychaining and holding hands... Maybe the most dramatic scene can be when someone gets a boo boo? Maybe we could see Wolverine growl?
It wasn't the deaths in X3 that made it bad, it was having deaths for deaths sake. It was the attitude that death in and of itself WAS drama and that you didn't need any development around that.

And as if killing a major character in a dystopian future is the best way to show how chaotic the future is and how important it is that they need to go back to the past to change the future.
And this dystopian future is not set in an alternate timeline, its post X3.

Bryan Singer already said that DOFP is gonna be a sequel to X3 too, so yes its post X3 and the next Wolverine movie is also post X3.

Yes, but if it's a future they're working to AVOID then it WILL be an alternate timeline.
And I'm not saying they have to kill characters off but they can't be afraid of killing a character just because fans like it. Let go of your fandom and look at the wider narrative. Days of Future Past had a lot of significant deaths in it.

I'm a fan of Wolverine and I would rather he died in DOFP. His heroic death at the hands of the Sentinels is a great Wolverine moment in the original comic.

Agreed, that image is one of my favourite. As a huge fan it's horrific but ultimately, powerful. They shouldn't shy away from that type of thing.
Also, I think it's very narrow minded to assume that a characters death might mean they aren't done 'justice'. Seeing a beloved X-Men nobly and defiantly go down fighting can be both a spectacular action scene and incredibly moving and true to their character. Try and tell me Cyclops, Storm, Wolvie, Jean, Nightcrawler, Collossus or anyone else wouldn't be capable of self sacrifice to save the future for all mutants or that it would be a disservice and I'll promptly point you towards the nearest comic book shop.

Agreed, though you don't even need to go that far. You can just point to X2. Jean Grey dies in that film, and no one threw a fit. In fact, plenty of Hypsters have listed it as one of their favorite scenes of the trilogy, so why the aversion to similar deaths in Days of Future Past? This isn't The Last Stand, where characters who shouldn't die are given cheap deaths just to "round out" their characters and close out the trilogy. The deaths of Days of Future Past are part of the story and do serve a purpose--or at least a better one, in my opinion. Plus, like Jean Grey in X2, we know there is most likely a possibility of them coming back.

It's the number one most important reason why they'd need to go back, as they see their comrades fall and no one left to fight the sentinels. |

I think they haven't announce Halle Berry, James Marsden, Famke Janssen, Lucas Till etc because either they're not in DOFP or they are just minor roles.
Normally, they will announce those key central roles first. The supporting minor roles will be announced last. They don't have to bring everybody back. The cast will be very crowded. |

Singer said on a recent interview that the FC cast is under contract, so we could guess that some non announced actors from FC will be present but they just are secondary roles, exactly like on FC.
I guess Singer doesnt feel that tweeting "welcome back Lucas Till, Caleb Landry Jones and Jason Flemming" is as exciting as tweeting the Peter D. announcement, or the return of Anna, Shawn and Ellen.

If there is one scene they should keep from the comics it is that one. His charred skeleton on the ground with his claws still sticking out is something I hope they include in this one.

I think he will change the brotherhood, only keeping Azazel.
but the xmen team should keep the same roster with one new student at least. (hopefully a girl)

Your forgetting Mystique will be with Brotherhood.
I believe Banshee and Havok will still be X-men and emma Frost will still be among the Brotherhood. Now rather the actors come back or Bryan Singer uses the 11 year gap between films to recast Is an open question. This I sunlike any previous X-Men film. You have 1:The characters In future plus Sentinles 2:X-Men and Brotherhood In 1973 3:Human Characters In 1973.Nixon and most likely Trask 4:The Time Traveler who bridges first Class and trilogy casts If you look at all of Bryan Singer's films he doesn't flood screen with characters. He uses characters that fit story. And If you look at his enesemble films some characters get focus and others don't.Remember that as some complain about som enot getting focus yet they still want to flood the screen with characters and want certain characters get focus. Dropping a hwole bunch of first Class characters Isn't likely.Sabretooth and Toad were only ones who didn't return for X2 and both almost did.Sabretooth was cut because of decsion to use Deathstrike.WHile Toad was victim of budget. There are still Limitians on who can be used due to not outright ignoring origins and Last Stand and the 1973 setting. |

they could possibly have a scene between future Xavier and future Mystique as a way to bridge first class to the future films
otherwise i don't see future Mystique needing to be in it at all, can't have to many future and past versions of characters

I'd get a kick out them using Rachel & Franklin (would be a tie in the FF that Fox still have for now), but I can't see that happening.
Thinking about it Franklin didn't do anything beyond getting killed as quickly as possible anyway.

Lol you know, I still remember the first time I saw X3... Xavier had just died, Storm and Wolverine are crying and holding each other (because THAT'S in character for them) and with sad music playing, we see a transition the mansion in a slow fade.... then all of sudden it just cuts to an empty wheelchair. Cue the entire cinema laughing. It was ridiculous then and it's just as absurd now.
