Ock, you're tarnishing Spidey's good name!

It's gonna be interesting to see how Peter deals with somebody- Ock especially using his body to kill multiple people when he gets his body back. How's he gonna be able to live with himself knowing his hands have taken lives? Among the other problems he's gonna have in his life.

I find this all very interesting, but I really hope that this isn't all to return Pete to status quo; broke, hated by cops. etc. Part of me thinks it'll in some ways be worse for him since he may have to ditch his identity as Pete, but that could be interesting. I just really don't want him to fully revert to a photographer etc. I can see him loosing the cushy life for sure, which I'm not against, but please let's not get into too familiar territory.

I don't care if he's untrusted by the Avengers, police and general public. It makes him a better "odds stacked against him" hero. I don't want Peter to lose his success. He's better as one of the elite thinkers of the Marvel Universe instead of a 30 something loser.

I agree. Peter shouldn't be a moron. He's supposed to be a real smart person.

Agreed, if he has to go back to a somewhat crappy life or really crappy life, I don't want him to give up on the science at least. I mean seriously, he's finally being recognized for his smarts. In an issue of WATXM, when Hank was consulting the best and brightest for a cure for Bru, Pete was one of those guys included. The smile on my face was huge at that point. It's just been such a joy to see him embrace the smarts that I would hate for him to revert to being a photog. :/

Aloha,
As smart as Peter Parker ALWAYS was, it's so sad that neither Sam Raimi nor Marc Webb thought that they could present a Peter Parker in the movies who was capable of creating/inventing both web shooters and webbing. Yet a Marvel produced movie could sell the idea that Tony Stark could create a miniaturized arc reactor out of spare parts in a cave.
I don't mind him going back to being a photographer but he shouldn't have to depend upon that money to live. He's much smarter than that.

I think it's because most writers prefer to show him as your average joe, meaning he can't be that smart because us readers wouldn't be able to relate to that. Which is dumb. Peter was an outsider before being spiderman because he was smart.

Screwball isn't dead considering how she's still able to speak. Jester, at the very least, is critically wounded.

Yep. Not to mention
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
Mary Jane FINALLY starts to realize there's no way this can be Peter. Although given how it's confirmed SpOck did indeed execute Massacre, she should've realized this far sooner, but better late than never. In fact, I think this was the one drawback this issue had story-wise, in that SpOck murdering Massacre should've been treated as a much bigger deal than it was presented here. Granted, the Avengers do react to it, but considering the circumstances of how Massacre died, it should've been far stronger. Also, I found it funny that Wolverine was willing to give "Spider-Man" the benefit of the doubt when, back in Avenging Spider-Man #16, he was so suspicious of SpOck that he ordered Rachel Summers to scan SpOck's mind. Shouldn't SpOck killing Massacre execution style have confirmed the worst of Wolverine's suspicions?

Still, I did like the way Slott handled the tonal shift this issue took.

I was just assuming she was about to die right there and that Jester was already dead. Probably not a smart thing for me to do considering it's comics.

To be fair
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
I also thought Jester was dead in the final page, too. Until I saw his "G-G-Gah" in the last panel on the previous page. Then again, maybe that was his last gasp? At least I thought the word balloon was associated with him, but it could've just as easily have been Screwball. So maybe you could be right after all. But I'm sure we'll definitely know what their status is by next issue. At the very least, both Screwball and Jester need some serious medical attention.

Yea, those jocks are probably not ever gonna walk again, or pick on cute little people....I think I have a crush on Anna Mari Marconi...well played Slott....well played. *turns around in villain-chair and pets fluffy white cat*

I'm really really curious as to how quickly the next issue picks up on stuff. I'm hoping it's not a "2 days later" thing, I really just wanna know the outcome ASAP and how all of Spidey's pals deal with this.

I still think it's funny that Wolverine is any part of the "too brutal for Avengers" conversations.....

What I also found funny in this issue that Wolverine
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
was taking the “wait-and-see” approach to all of this when, back in Avenging Spider-Man #16, he was so suspicious of the way “Spider-Man” was acting that he ordered Rachel Summer to scan SpOck’s mind. Wouldn’t SpOck killing Massacre execution style only confirm those earlier suspicions? Especially since Spider-Man was the guy who also proclaimed over and over again to anyone in earshot "No one dies on my watch!"

Maybe he's seeing how it plays out as the whooping he got made him reevaluate how he looks at Spidey, that he's capable of more or that something is wrong for this to happen and isnt going to jump the gun.

I am still enjoying the hell out of Slott's run! I mean, man! There always seems to be a logical progression to his concepts. Ock was always bullied as a kid, and now he has the power to exact "justice" on bullies. For those saying "see, Ock is always a villain," I think that Ock thinks he is being a hero. It's a matter of perception. I'm sure he saw what he did to those guys with the car a justifiable avenging of his tutor. As far as Screwball & Jester, he snapped. I like that these incidents cause him to have flashbacks and flashbacks sweep up Pete. As a result, Pete was enable to reign Ock in.

And for the record
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:

I don't think he killed Screwball & Jester.

I'm pretty confident that the other super heroes will figure out that ock is spidey, along with mj. otherwise it is too much of a set back for peter once he regains control.

as for the public perception, however, i think ock may irreparably harm his image, and it will be a long slog back to being seen as anything but a menace/killer.

BTW seeing ock cutting up jester and co. was pretty disturbing. like a slasher killer. was a good artistic choice to make him do that and not simply punch them over and over

Sorry, disagree with you, particularly based on the other two pages shown in that preview.

I like that 6AU preview, but doesn't Tony know that about Pete already?
