Taxi Driver's New York is what Gotham is in my head. Scorcese has changed (evolved :/) a lot in the last 20 years, but it would be at least interesting.

It would !

More i think about it the more i want to see Scorcese directing Batman. But i don't think its happening. Scorcese is experimenting on new things like the 3d and comic books may interest him but he is a veteran he would never sign a 3+ picture contract with WB.

I mentioned that as well. I really think he's a quality director when he's got strong writing underneath him. He can definitely hit comedic moments, dramatic moments and can shoot the hell out of a great action sequence.

If WB goes with a regular Batman movie i'd be indifferent towards rallying for him - but something tells me he'd be an inspired choice for Batman Beyond.

- Jow

PS: He can do a hell of a lot more than just shoot car chases. People who don't give the F&F new trilogy it's rightful due tell me everything I need to know about their approach to evaluating movies.

Refn's Batman would be probably be neutered, studio-controlled BS.

Love the idea myself.

I don't have a particular person whom I would die to see direct a Batman film. I just know what I want the aesthetic to be.

I don't want another origin story (we'll probably get one, knowing Hollywood). I want Batman to be established like in the 89 film. As much as I loved Nolans films, I want the exaggerated comic booky tone brought back. I want like a cross between the Burton films and the Arkham games. I want this thing stlyied up the butt. Shadows, dirt, grit, smog, fog, lights shining through rain, that kind of thing. Some people brought up a world hopping/espionage angle. I could dig that. But I don't want Batman to be out of Gotham all that much.
I also want to angle of Batman being crazy himself brought back into the mix, like in the Burton films. If the reboot can add the style of a comic book and the emotional and dramatic chops of Nolan I will be in heaven.

Ben Affleck.

The man has stated that he is a Batman fan and would love to direct if he was ever given the chance.

The man can make a great drama/thriller film! I'm sure he would need to learn how to work w/ more action and green screen though.

Love it! A more gothic, more mysterious, lesser scope (to great effect) version of Batman which I would like to see after Nolan's larger scope. More nail-biting haunted house thrills, less edge of your seat roller coaster thrills. More claustrophobic

so apparently Joss Whedon would love to get his hands on Batman. i gotta say, i think he'd do a pretty damn excellent job in rebooting Batman if given the chance. he would bring the perfect mix of realism and fantasy that would work well leading into a Justice League film.

Whedon doing Bats? I'm getting into a mild cardiac arrest right now imagining the brilliance of that. Please, movie gods, let it happen.

I'd totally want that. I love it how some Nolan loonies are already saying how Whedon doesn't understand the character and how he wouldn't be able to handle the character.

Same bologna people where saying when he was signed on for The Avengers.

I'd be down for him writing a new Bats, but not directing. I loved the Avengers as much as the next guy, but I don't know if he has the visual aesthetic I would personally want out of the reboot. Then again, his adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing looks visually striking. I've heard people say Whedon haters would have to eat crow about him not being a visual director after seeing that film.

Even if Much Ado about Nothing is a visual masterwork (I've not seen it), it still doesn't change the Avenger's sometimes shoddy cinematography. So I fail to see why crows would be eaten. Though I would put nothing (pertaining to irrationality) past fanboy mentality.

I remember him briefly describing his pitch for Batman and I wasn't impressed by it.
