I was watching some special features and Nolan describes the Batpod as an anti-aircraft gun on wheels. There are an awful lot of aircraft being used in this production.

Didn't it flip because there were hydraulics underneath it though?

It did, But I think he's referring to how Batman flipped it in the film.

Yeah, I was just saying it was fantastic in the sense that it couldn't have been flipped the way Batman did it in the film.

OR that realistically... no one would have survived that. Not Joker, not his goon squad.

There is no way that it would happen in real life.

The '89 Batmobile's turbine engine may look phallic but atleast it doesn't look like a massive hunk of badonkadonk tumors with a ridiculous maw insect face. Believe it or not, many images we hold dear have phallic origins. Unless you're looking for it or have male genitalia on the brain, the '89 Batmobile looks fine, sleek and intimidating.
Oh dear, thats pretty pathetic. Also just because your wife does not care about Batman does not mean all women are the same. My fiance is very vocal about the Batman films, has her favorites, enjoys going to see superhero movies (spider-man 2 being her favorite) and prefers Burton's Batmobile over the tumbler.

But i guess i making this up?

True...but it's more realistic than someone punching a car hood causing it to flip.

People in the drivers seat and passenger seat would be able to survived that. It's not that dramatic to the body.

Ok the first thing to point out is the wheels on the front. In this new picture it looks like the two front wheels are touching. Where as you can see on the old tumbler they were separated by that metal piece in the middle. This would mean that the new car would look take on a triangular shape. Maybe I'm wrong and there's something weird going on with the depth of the picture but the wheels look like they are touching. The second thing is it looks smaller and sleeker to me. In the picture of the original tumbler on the race track it looks enormous and like a tank, and that picture is shot from far away. In the new picture it's shot close up and it doesn't look nearly as big height-wise or width-wise to me. Again maybe I'm wrong, I'll be the first to admit it if I am but thats how things look to me.

And as how Batman got another tumbler. Well remember they did have the blueprints/schematics of it (Coleman Reese confronts Fox with them). So whats stopping them from building a new one OR improving on the design and making an upgraded version of it?

Haha. Good grief. People around here take their bat-cars pretty personally. Lighten up, buttercup.

True enough. Just said it made more sense this way.

(1) Haha. The kids are going to be very disappointed -- especially the one that's still in the oven. My wife talks alot, about all kinds of things. Last Saturday, she finally got around to her thoughts on the Burton Batmobile. What can ya do?

(2) I like the Tumbler better, but I don't dislike the Burton Batmobile. I said it looked phallic -- which it does -- not that it was appalling. It looks sleek, intimidating, a little fragile in comparison to the Tumbler ... and rather phallic.

(3) Having a wife "with male genetalia on the brain" has its benefits.

Yeah it very well could be but idk. It make sense that Bruce would upgrade the tumbler to me. He would probably want it to be faster and since he doesn't need to worry about storing the batpod in there I would imagine it being lighter.

They look exactly the same to me. I do hope there are upgrades to it, but I think its a bigger chance of upgrades being software rather than hardware.

Agree, not to mention that the flaps are up and you see the top of it which makes it look larger.

Radiation from solar flares...especially in the month of July...can cause anomalies in visual perception of rubber objects.
