One of the major differences I noticed about Storm in X3 is that, whereas she was controlling and creating weather in X-MEN and X2, she was actually channeling weather through her in X3. She and the weather appeared to be more closely connected in general.

Agreed. And I really hope they don't lose that.

In X1 and X2 it seemed that Storm needed to be physically exposed to the weather in order to manipulate it. For example, in X1, it wasn't until Scott blew a hole through the roof of the train station that Storm was finally able to break Sabertooth's grip on her by summoning lightning to her immediate vicinity.

Whereas in X3, she could channel the weather through her body wherever she was. In the Danger Room sequence she was flying and spinning without any hang-ups being in an enclosed space. And in the deleted scenes, there's a situation where she is smacking the s*** out of Callisto with lightning and then delivers a bolt to Logan's claws in an effort to electrocute Blob. And unlike some fans, I actually thought the spinning "human tornado" touch was sweet. The way she rose to the heavens in Jean Grey's neighborhood before spinning down at 90 mph dragging cloud matter and lightning with her was amazing and well done. The best part is when she got close to Arc-Light and Porcupine-Face (I forget his name at the moment) and at that moment she outstretched her arms while spinning, becoming a human conductor for the lighting to strike them at that moment. It really was brilliant stuff.

But the flying sequences by themselves were lame in X3. Funny, with his limited budget, Bryan actually did a better job with her flight in X1 because he showed her actually riding the wind currents. Her cape was filled with wind for example, showing its purpose. In X3, it was just obvious she was being hoisted up by wirework.

I really hope they showcase Storm really taking to the skies in this movie. I'd love to see an epic sequence where she summons a huge storm - lightning/tornados, to take on sentinels.

From the sounds of Halle's conversation in that clip, I think her role is going to be small in Days Of Future Past. I can imagine her taking to the skies as you say for a brilliant manifestation of power against the Sentinels, only to be shot down in cold blood.

Perhaps. That's not to say she might not get to do something like that though. She may perish in a desperate attempt to escape/attack sentinels in first few minutes of movie but it would be screen time well utilised imo.

Yes. Well, Storm and Sentinels fighting would make for some amazing money shots for the trailers to get them asses in the theaters. So while her time may be brief on screen it would suit its purpose if used properly.

Hopefully Bryan will be up to the challenge. In the past, he's shied away from that sort of stuff.

Agreed. I would love to see her take to the skies and create a massive storm. It's the one thing she hasn't done yet.

"I summon the full force of the elements!"

If she could just utter that zinger once with serious confidence against a Sentinel I'd die a happy man.

Also, can we get a Storm costume showing some skin?

I mean, seriously:

Bryan's female characters are NEVER sexy. This needs to be improved. And clearly Halle would be game to do it.

And she doesn't have to have a standard mohawk, it can be stylized or without balding all the way on the sides. I never said she had to go full punk, and a mohawk is anything but just a punk style these days.

Some examples:
This look would be nice for Halle Berry.

But I want to see Storm with long hair.

I could forgive the lack of story development if they focused more on showcasing her true badassness as warrior in battle. Or the reverse, with us knowing a lot of her back story but never seeing her really unleash- sadly neither has happened. No fan is holding their breath expecting any more in this 'go round' but her not being there is just a total diss and a slap in the face to one of comics most all time popular female characters, not to mention black heros in the genre.

One would think the character of Storm would be a directors wet dreams, especially director doing a comicbook movie. The effects could be mind blowing and a legitimate reason for 3D viewing.

Halle's pluses outweigh her MANY negatives, some part of me still struggles with her portrayal, but I do see value in Hale so she would be worth negotiating with to get her on board.

I love that she acknowledges the fans' love of Storm. That tells me she's either reading these boards or is getting feedback somehow. Halle Berry is fully aware of what the fans expect from her portrayal of Storm.

And I may get stoned for saying this but...I think her turn in X3 was her first valiant effort at really bringing a fierce, commanding stance to Storm. Say what you want, but X3's Storm was definitely not mousy or weak. And X3 was the film that Halle's people fought hardest for in terms of screentime. She also insisted on doing her own stunts and turned down FOX's offer to use a double. She claimed that if she was going to make $15M she wanted to make sure she "earned it".

The result? We finally got this:

We NEVER saw this kind of determination or fury from Storm in the previous X-Films. I think it's a great example of her character's evolution. Let's just hope Bryan doesn't set the clock back.

I finally saw the interview and Halle Berry looks very excited being in the movie and I love that she giggled a little when the interviewer brought up X-Men. She probably saw it coming that someone was gonna ask her about it.

I feel like whether her role is small or not, the most important thing for her right now is just be part of the X-Men series again.

Not many people realize the amount of effort nor understand the true story behind why things turned out the way that they did for Storm in X3. Halle was a big part of that. People suggest so many other actress, but I still question whether ANY other actress would have been able to utilize their star power to get what we were given for Storm in X3.

The actress gets so much heat from many fans but this is one of the only places I have ever been able to come without hearing alot of bashing towards her(which is why I'm here now). I'm happy to see Halle return to the X-films.
