What are you talking about?

Josh Gad won a Tony Award. Iíd hardly call him one of the best actors Iíve ever seen.

Lots of people have won Tonyís, Oscars, etc. I would not put most of them in the same class of actors as McKellan and Stewart.

Winning a Tony award or being nominated for a Tony Award or an Oscar means exactly this: In that year, in that role, you were among the best in a particular category.

And having an extensive career means: You had an extensive career. You're either lucky, popular, hardworking, talented, or some combination of these things. Lots of people have extensive careers.

It doesnít mean you were the best of the best compared to specific acclaimed actors over a long period of time.

I wasnít discrediting it. I love most of her work. But I recognize that she is not as talented as Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan. Much in the way I recognize that MOST actors arenít as talented as they are.

I donít know why this is even an argument.

Sheís very talented. There are a lot of talented actors out there. There are few that are anywhere near the level of talent, or command as much respect from their fellow actors, directors, and those who study the craft as Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan.
Josh Gad never won a Tony Award. He was nominated for The Book of Mormon, which he was actually quite fabulous in (although I preferred Andrew Rannells' performance), but Norbert Leo Butz won the the Best Actor award for Catch Me if You Can that year. So yeah...your analogy makes no sense there.

As for the rest of your rambling, it's ok that you don't like Weaver. But know the difference between your opinion and acting like an authority on everything when stating it.

Yeah, I actually just looked that up. That was incorrect on my part.

Point being, winning an award, or even being successful, doesn't mean you're as good as a particular actor in every situation.

I just said that I do like Weaver's work. Sometimes I wish there was a reading comprehension course people had to go through before they could post on here...

Maybe if Sigourney Weaver had a British accent The Guard would rank her higher

No...if she had the level and craft of subtlety, nuance, and range they have, I would rank her higher.

Lord knows that Guard and I recently disagreed with things in this very thread, but I think its kinda funny how people are seemingly choosing to completely misinterpret what he's saying...

"I don't think Weaver is as good as Stewart/McKellan" is not the same as "I don't think Weaver is a good actress."

Exactly. It's outright assumption and there's nothing like that in my statement.

After the last couple of weeks on here, I'm considering changing my name to The Comprehension Guard.

How about "The Confusion Guard" instead? Because everyone understands you. They just don't agree with you. You never seem to get that.

And since most of a page has now been dedicated to "The Guard Must Insist That Sigourney Weaver's Accomplishments as an Actress Don't Really Matter All That Much When Compared to Stewart and McKellen's" (to which I assume there are trumpets blaring somewhere when you're going on about this), how about we get this thread back on topic?

Thank you.

Always thought Michelle Pfeiffer would be good for an aged future Emma (no need for a blonde/grey wig or contacts then). Weaver would be good too though. Can't see them using a future Emma though (so I figure it's a redundant issue in any event), they already have Xavier for the telepath role.

But back on topic: Since there's no word yet I figure either Singer's keeping what he intends here quiet, or he has no plans to bring Jean & Scott back.

I'm hoping his story can at least allow for their return, but for the moment I am inclined to think we won't be seeing it with this film.

I love how Danoyse tells someone to have several seats without actually saying it. What a force of nature.

I still love you too Guard.

Agreed, although I hope for something more. But you know what Wobbly? It could be as subtle as the Phoenix raptor spreading its wings underwater at the end of X2...something simple that implies that they've both survived.

I still want an ending where Professor X wakes up and wheels himself out into the school yard. Wolverine is being all sexy and awesome. Rogue is flying around. Cyclops and Jean are kissing in the corner. Storm is being a strongindependentblackwomanwhodontneednocure with a decent wig for once.

And then they shove in some last minute hook for an X4.

I wouldn't mind something similar. Having Rogue be like her classic self that we never quite got to see in the movies before and having Jean & Cyclops back would just make my day.

Its not gonna be a X4, but more like a X5. DOFP is X4.

Haha I started watching that too! I forgot how much I didn't like Jean in the beginning. What was up with her dating Duncan?! Thankfully she gets awesome during season three.

Does she stop dating Duncan altogether?? When do Scott and Jean start seeing each other?

Ooh, good choice. I always thought a mid-90s Nicole Kidman would be perfect.

Nicole Kidman would be perfect. She looks almost identical to Emma on the Poster for Stepford Wives.

I'm pretty sure Jean will dump Duncan.

And spoiler alert
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
Phoenix only appears at the last episode of the show I wish they didn't pull the plug so early, the show was just starting to get better.

While another season would be fantastic, it showed that you can have Jean as a major character and never do a Phoenix storyline, and she doesn't have to die.
