The white phoenix....

I've been browsing the IMDB boards recently and came across something interesting but while I don't buy it, it would be interesting to see what role Jean has, even if it is just a cameo.

thing is, if it is what it is, why didn't they just not include her in the trailer? If i was part of making the trailer, I would have not included a shot of Jean. What really bugs me now, is why couldn't they just save it for the actual movie? Cameo or whatever the heck it is, has got me thinking too much about what they're doing with Jean... I don't want to be disappointed.

I'm sure they included Famke/Jean as a selling point, for marketing purposes. After Hugh Jackman, Famke is the only other big name in the movie. All the others are Japanese actors who won't be well known to a global audience.

Also, they want to tempt general X-Men fans to see the movie, because they know that Jackman's Wolverine isn't enough to carry it on his own (hence all those cameos stuffed into Origins).

True but still...I'd rather wait for the actual movie to see how she appear in it.

Any studio's job is to promote, promote, promote. And in the eyes of 90% of the viewing public, the only recognisable face in this is Jackman. So they promoted the only other actor that people will really recognise, dream sequence or not. Simple.

i really wouldn't hold your breath that it means anything, i have a feeling its just a cameo for wolverines sake, while it depends on what singer does with DOFP

Yeah, I wouldn't hold your breath for Jean being alive in The Wolverine. That wouldn't just needlessly complicate that film, but would be hard to explain in context of how the previous films handled the Phoenix itself.

Yes, Famke is the only other face that a movie goer might recognize and if you have a somewhat recognizable face in a film, why not include it in marketing? After all, films that Famke has appeared in within the last year have grossed almost $600 million worldwide. But moreover, it creates buzz around the trailer release due to a deceased character's reappearance.

why can't they just keep her cameo a freaking secret?

I mean...Famke hasn't confirmed about her role in it. why? cause I think the studio is preventing her to say anything at this moment while Jackman, says that Jean has a presence to the overall story...

I dunno what to believe anymore... Jackman's mouth?

Considering the filming of her cameo was already leaked, I don't know what the big deal is with showing the cameo.

If showing Famke's cameo is a good way for a GOOD movie to make more money, then by all means show away!

Well anyway, enough talk about that, we'll just have to wait and see until July...

Famke's still probably bound to her original non-disclosure agreement. If the studio doesn't give her the go ahead, she can't just start revealing details of her role.

I think they gave her cameo away with the teaser because they wanted to get the buzz of Jean's return out of the way early. If she appears in the full trailer, there won't be as much focus on her presence: the focus will be on the film and Wolverine. Overall, they probably want to give away Jean because her presence adds emotional weight to Wolverine's story, creates buzz, and adds a bit of the romance angle to the trailer which marketers like to see featured.

Maybe they recycled the Last Stand scene were Jean and Logan are on the examination table making out and decided to re-color Jeans tank top to white so it won't be so obvious.

Yes, we know that...but FOX's SFX budget can't afford her greatness. So they were like, "Look, just slap this Hanes top on her ass and get to filming."

Famke Janssen Discusses Her Cameo as Jean Grey in ‘The Wolverine’

Quote:
“I don’t know. I haven’t seen the trailer yet. I hear that there’s a flash of me, but maybe people imagining me,” she joked.

But, she did indicate it will be exciting to reprise her role as Jean Grey.

I'm going to a taping of her for a talk show in Toronto later today, I doubt she'll talk about her role in The Wolverine or her possible return in DoFP. I'll let you guys know.
