How many movies does one need to watch to be considered a film geek?
Owning 150 works, or more is needed?

Wtf?

No way. Lil Orson was incredible in Looper.

Yeah, acting was not the problem with that movie in any regard, not that it was a bad movie, just some script issues.

That just goes with time travel movies. All of them have at last one or two paradoxes. Even Back to the Future.

Again, that's why people should be less concerned with script details. What's important is the ultimate emotional or philosophical response a film brings.

Wow a lot of Looper haters in here. I admit I was underwhelmed by it, but aside from some of the time-travel mumbo jumbo some of you have pointed out, I thought it was an excellently well shot, edited, acted and written film.

And I feel like I'd like it even more on a second viewing.

Disagreed, I don't think one should be favod over the other. A story should at least make sense.

...Which usually comes up with a well crafted story. Time Travel stories are incredibly difficult to get to be very accurate because not only because it's based on a seemingly impossible concept.

I don't think people are as concerned with script details as you think. Many people constantly miss details of movies or have plot holes occur and people love it.

Yes, and the response Looper got from me was "This concept is cool and Joseph Gordon Levitt did a good job, but the stuff about telekinesis and that little kid were awful."

*Thinking of my Terminator time loop fan-fiction again*
After the end of T-2 and Arnold's dive into the metal
John Connor disappears, no robots mean no need for John to send Kyle Reese to save his mom
Robots surface again, cause what they did is now moot with the disappearance of the time loop key
Kyle Reese knows of the time machine, and goes to save Sarah Connor again. With no John Connor around, why?

I'll move on to alternate dimensions theory

I'm not a big fan of James Bond movies either. Not saying they're bad, but I just couldn't get into them.

I finally watched Skyfall last night. I liked it, but the ending made me laugh, cause it reminded me of Home Alone.

I have. I never thought of that, though. The ending reminded me more of Burn Notice. They do those kinds of DIY booby-traps on that show all the time.

I'm okay with improvised weapons...but doing it in an old worn down house, through a montage with upbeat, vaguely militaristic music just reeked of Home Alone II.

Skyfall was all around a terrible movie, BTW. I don't know if I said that here or in another thread.

I turned to my girlfriend and said that exact same thing during the trap-setting montage.

I liked Skyfall, but the movie is in serious need of a good action scene in the middle.

We didn't need the James Bond origin. I know it's an attempt to kind of ground the character, but...no need.
