I thought Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was funny when I was a teen, but I recently watched it and came to the conclusion that it is purely awful.

I love Smith's first five movies (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back). I thought Jersey Girl was decent for what it was. Clerks 2 and Zach & Miri fall under (really like, but maybe not love). I don't really count Cop Out, since he didn't write it, but it was passable for one viewing. Red State is actually the only one I disliked. It had its moments, but I really thought it just failed to deliver. The one guy, the preacher, gave a great performance, but the rest of the film just didn't do it for me.

Im a huge Kevin smith fan. My and silent bob strike back is stupid as hell but I enjoy it. Red state and clerks II are probably my favorite movies by him.

I forgot about Cop Out, actually. I only managed to make it through about 15 minutes of that. But his actual writer/director films are gold.

I remember Mallrats was the first one I saw back in middle school and loved it. Rented Clerks and Chasing Amy (which might be my favorite of them all) soon after. Dogma was the first I was able to see in theaters. Good times.

I think his best writing is in Chasing Amy, but the overall better movie is Clerks 2........................Pillow pants.

I enjoy his comic writing more than his film writing.

The look of sheer terror on Randall's face is what truly sells that scene lmao

Would there really be much of a difference if it wasn't based on a true story. I don't think Michael Bay is the first person to do something like this either. I don't remember seeing the film , but I loved the t.v. series. I thought Swamp Thing was popular. I like all his films. Some of them are dated , but there's still a charm to them. I even liked Jersey Girl. I'd say Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is the worst , but even that has it's moments. |

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was perfect for what it was meant to be: a big love letter to his diehard fans and a big ego stroke for Smith, basically getting to spend millions of dollars on the most ridiculous ideas he could come up with.

I didn't hate it. I still prefer the Mandarin origin from that annual a couple years back.

Is that unpopular? I've been on vacation and off the internet for the last week. I don't know why I'm surprised. Fanboys are a traditionally conservative lot. I loved it. It was ballsy, transgressive, funny, and it was just plain old thrilling to finally be completely blindsided by a movie again.

The Amazing Spider-Man is my favorite Spider-Man film. Peter and Gwen had great chemistry, which is what won me over. Connors plot was good, just on the cusp of great. I felt having a family, or having lost a family to something, could've made it greater than what it was.

I loved the amazing spiderman. I felt the cast and story were better than the Sam raimi films. Not that I said story, NOT writing. I still felt that spiderman 2 had better plot structuring and a better villain. But andr Garfield was far superior to Toby Macguire in the role of spiderman/Peter Parker. And I loved how Gwen actually contributed to the plot beyond being some object to get stolen by the bad guy in the end.

I loved it while watching it, felt mixed about it right afterwards, but the more I've been thinking about it the more I like it.

I get why it pissed some people off, but I thought it worked within the movie, in and of itself.
Wasn't wowed by the movie itself though. For the first twenty minutes or so I was all ready to call it the best Iron Man yet, but too much time wandering around with the damn kid, and some other stuff was just cheesy.

When the movie started with Tony messing up his own narration, and then Blue over the opening logos, I leaned up in my seat, grinned, and thought "Now this is going to be different." Unfortunately, the majority of the film didn't quite live up to that expectation, but I still enjoyed it a hell of a lot (and didn't find myself wishing it would just end already like with IM2) and certainly didn't find it the ****storm some are making it out to be. Also, I don't think I've ever seen RDJ give such an amazing performance. There's a line of horrendous exposition in the first act (I think it's when he talks with Pepper in the armory) but his delivery is so good that I didn't even care how blatant it was. |
