1. to differentiate from Raimi's (unfortunate as that may be) 2. as an origin film, hoping to make it look more amateur, less professional. 3. to instill the exact sense of novelty we are all feeling looking at it and make children buy new toys. 4. all the complaints fans had about the "honeycomb" design, the shoes, the lack of belt, the yellow eyes, etc. (none of which came from me btw) 5. If they are starting a huge universe franchise (like we all hope they are doing) they want it to epitomize Spider-Man and become the image we all think of when Spider-Man comes to mind. Easier with a classic suit. I assume the crew looked at all those reasons and figured... what the hell? plus its just different enough from Raimi's and just similar enough to ASM1, and it pretty much takes into account the design of every great Spider-Man artist who ever lived. Practically perfect in every way. |

i think the eyes will make this new costume stand on its own, regardless of any similarities to either the raimi or the tasm1 suit.

Plus... would have been a little odd for Spider-Man to enter the Avengers series without the classic gear...

Hopefully the big eyes wont make Spidey look too cartoony. You have to admire Webb and co for ripping the Spidey mask straight from the comics.
You have to say that this new Spideyis maybe a better fit for the Avengers because marvel movies the costumes are bright and they embrace their comic roots rather than shy away from it. |

I bet Andrew Garfield squealed with joy when he saw what he is going to be wearing for this movie. He`s a big Spider-Man fan after all...
Costume is pretty much perfect from what I have seen thus far. Hoping for an official full body picture soon. Edit: After having been very disappointed with the costume from ASM, I can only now applaud what they have done with the costume design for the sequel. The Raimi suit was as close to the classic comic book ever. This new design is even closer, and that is very high praise. The new ASM costume looks similar to the Raimi era, simply because the latter was so close to the comic book look... Think about it.

The webs aren't silver but they aren't black either. Look at the difference between the black on the eye lens and the webbing.

I think they are black, just made from a different material than the lens frame. The webbing seems to be more matt.

There is just no pleasing people, I like the suit because it adheres to the traditional costume and not to Raimi's version as many are ignorantly pointing out, Raimi's version was close to the comics anyway and TASM2 is doing the same thing...following the COMICS!
Has the whole full body suit been revealed? I sure hope they ditched the stupid sneaker type shoes.

I would assume that most of the gripes stem from Webb and co. using a suit that looks like it was made from the same material that was used for Raimi's movies. Nobody is dissing the design. I hope not because it is comic book perfect. Some like myself would've preferred that they used the same materials used in TASM so that it would look like a natural evolution of the first costume.

If they'd used jet black webbing and material similar to the ASM costume then the new costume would be perfect. You it is possible to please me

People were probably just less enthusiastic about seeing a Spider-Man origin movie again. Amazing Spider-Man still made $752 million.

It does evoke the Raimi suit, but the eyes are clearly going to be this suit's main drawcard and point of difference.

I understand that looking like the classic is everything to some people, but I hope this doesn't look too much like a "halloween costume" if you know what I mean
can't wait to see what it looks like on film
