Check him out in the Bourne films. He can play menacing very, very well.

I'm extremely happy they went with someone who can be a convincing orderly businessman with a dark secret. I can see him be the guy who seems proper when you meet him, but who in the next moment when you're away is an ass towards his own son.
Compared to Massee who just strikes me as a lunatic.

I've never considered Cooper for this role before, but he fits it so well.

Gotta say, I'll be REALLY disappointed if Harry becomes the GG in this series and not Norman. Like...why? Why would they do that? Norman already has such an evil reputation in this series. He's been built up very well as a character that we should pay attention to. I want to see the first and REAL Green Goblin in this series. If anything...since we already saw Harry going down the path of the "Goblin" to some extent in the last series, we don't need to see it in this one. Give us a really compelling multi-film arc for Spidey and GG (his greatest nemesis) and end the series with a bang, not with Spidey fighting and then mourning his best friend.
VERY HAPPY with this casting of Chris Cooper. He's old but cleans up well and can give us a really evil portrayal of Norman. So interested to see what his GG look will be.

But what about Michael Massee? I hope we get an explanation of what his role was in the first film. I'm sure Chris Cooper will do fine, but I was really championing Massee for Norman Osborn.

I'm not worried about Cooper's age. I'm beginning to suspect the Goblin will be largely CGI to get the face / costume right.

Cooper is everything Massee is and way more. This is a step up.

good casting. Cooper was great in American Beauty, The Bourne films, A Time To Kill and Jarhead

Doesn't matter however if he ends up becoming Hulk Goblin...

Yeah that's what I meant! He may be a perfect Norman but if he becomes Ultimate Goblin...then that will ruin everything! I hope Webb & Co (Arad!) aknowledges that

I hope they use the cross species genetics story to physically turn him into the goblin and not just a guy who wears a mask.
But he won't be Gobby in this movie. |
