1) To hide his identity just like Spider-Man.

2) He is often portrayed in the comics as having an obsession with masks and Goblin folklore.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with the Green Goblin at all in the comics besides his origin, so what comic series does he wear a mask in?

If it was my vision:

-Norman would have somewhat of a fetish with fairy tale creatures, goblins especially.

-He would be subtly psychopathic...unleashed fully at sporadic moments.

-Green Goblin would be conceived out of terrible events that build up, breaking Norman's small sanity that he has in the first place. He'd snap, and then an injection of an Oscorp formula(back to formula) would create a nasty distortion in Norman's facial and bodily structure.

-Hood and cape would be utilized to hide his appearance body wise. Face is creepily distorted to give off the appearance of a goblin.

- Glider and weaponry provided courtesy of the good people of Oscorp.

Amen . That version of GG was fantastic. Easily the best version of the character outside of the comics. The equivalent of what Mark Hamill's Joker was to the Joker of the comics.

Good ideas, man!
Instead of having his face resemble a goblin, I would have him use one of his favorite Goblin masks to hide his face.

now that i think of it, that sounds like what happened to Dr. Doom in the film lol

Ultimate Goblin is one of the weaker aspects of the Ultimate Spider-man comics (imo). I don't find him interesting visually or in terms of character and I've never been wowed by any of the stories he was in. He's too much of a deviation from the character.

I also don't think it would be the best idea to follow up TASM's Lizard with another transforming monster.

Ultimate Goblin was a let down, but i think Ultimate Norman Osborn was perfect, he was very cruel and manipulative in the early run in Ultimate Spider-Man.

I think the mask could be explained by:
1.) like you guys said, to hide his identity
2.) Again, what everyone else is saying, he is a bit insane.
3.) maybe look more frightening and threatening. Also maybe for theatrics. It would go well with him being crazy.
@Spideyfan93- I like the idea of him unleashing his psychopathic side at sporadic moments. I think it would great if those moments were mostly when he and Harry are alone. That could set up for a possible drug problem that Harry could have.

Most of them. Namely 616.

the theatric part can be played up really well, and to make him just a bit more creepy, i think the Halloween aspect should be a little more pronounced. Maybe a battle on Halloween Night?

yeah, that was all so great.
maybe Gwens death can happen on Halloween?
I would also really like to see the contrast between the business man type Norman vs the crazy psychopath Goblin much like in the Spectacular series as well.
Gobby was perfect when he would always one up spideys wit with a sort of "elegant" comeback that made him seem classy.

The mask also serves as a focal point for Norman. It's important because it represents Norman's dark side, it represents the Goblin persona for him. If you go the Ultimate route you not only lose the mask, you're just left with a big green monster.

Feels like yesterday we were discussing the first film. I still remember those pics of Andrew and Emma on the bleachers. Man how time flies! Can't wait for this film. Love the new suit.

exactly.
i think the mask represents the goblins mockery of what spideys trying to do by using the mask as a symbol for good; much like SM1 the bugle turned around and blamed spidey for bringing on the goblin in a costumed freak show in the big apple

Does anyone here legitamently think that Electro will have a "costume"? Because I can't imagine a villian sitting down to make themselves a costume. For all we know he might not even really HAVE powers, it could be some sort of suit or something, like the Shocker.

1) He does have a suit. Foxx has spoken about it (don't expect anything yellow and green btw). Whether it comes from Osorp or not remains to be seen.

2) I think if he doesn't have powers and just turns out to be an electric version of Shocker then there will be hell to pay.

I guess I'll place another imaginary $10 on tomorrow's pictures being of Peter and Gwen on a date at the tea parlor. I'm also guessing there will be an interrupting Rhino possibly.

I can picture Peter and Gwen on their date, and the ground starts shaking from Rhino's steps, and then Gwen looks at Peter and says, "go get em' bug boy ".
