The part of them keeping it a secret Wayne was Batman. They would let it slip eventually.

Are you talking about Foley sending the entire GCPD to chase Batman or Gordon sending 3,000 cops to the tunnels? Both, I can't see being really accurate, but it's only as bad as Loeb sending the entire police force to the Narrows.
Gotham has a tendancy to overreact.

When they went after Batman in begins that was not an overreaction. I also don't remember it being the entire force. What was ridiculous was in Dark Knight Batman is able to just walk around with cops and them just not arrest him. I mean he did all that damage in Begins, rooftops streets, he would be in jail the minute he shows up around them. Rather he saved the city or not

I'm not talking about when the cops went after Batman. With that, it was only a SWAT team and a few patrol cars. The final part of BB where Loeb sends the entire police force over to the Narrows was just as bad as anything in TDKR. Nolan's trilogy shows a very overreacting, nonsensical police force, lol.

When are the GCPD ever shown to be that competent though? In the burton films they would literally shoot him on sight every time even when told by gordon not too. In the comics they are often inept aside from gordon.

The GCPD over-reacting or messing up is a common batman trope it's used to make batman look better and make it understandable how this city would need someone like him. If anything in TDKR while it was a huge overreaction in numbers, it did make the cops who stayed on the service look extra crafty in how they were operating secretly afterwards.

In TDK while transporting Dent they encounter the burning fire truck then go down to the boxed in lower streets rather than driving into the completey deserted oncoming lanes and continuing on their way. That whole transport scene, cool as it is, is full of logic gaps.

Well, this is true, but also with every police force going after a superhero or a villain in anything comic book related. The police force is usually dumbed down to make it seem like the hero is needed even more with the incompetence of the cops.

I mean, hell, you can even see how bad the cops were when they were even chasing Batman in Batman Begins.

Lol, I keep forgetting about this one. It was definitely a bad idea going down on the lower streets. Once again, a gnarly job thanks to the Gotham City Police Department!

Interesting comparison about the batpod chase, how Foley sends all the police at Batman. A call was made ala Batman at the beginning of TDK “one man or the entire mob?”

Foley says Bane is just a bank robber and Batman has priority. Bruce says Bane is just a mercanary. Both Joker and Bane are underestimated and end up haunting the city big time.

You also have to keep in mind that the police had been relatively inactive for around eight years thanks to the (somewhat oppressive) Dent Act and the absence of Batman. When actual threats start appearing they don't quite know how to handle it, even less so than they had in the past. It illustrated the lethargic and weak state Gotham was in despite the supposed peace (frozen just like Bruce).

I've been getting a lot of nostalgia as well. That third trailer was amazing. Truly epic. Then a month and a half the Nokia one came along and blew me even further away.

Wow. So it is. If I remember correctly, the night before, or that morning, didn't they also release that "Batman wanted" viral too? Oh man, I remember spending the entire day waiting for that trailer to drop. I think it was around 8 O'clock when it was officially released, and I watched the thing about 15 times before going to bed, yet I still couldn't sleep because I was so riled up from finally seeing Nolan's last Bat-trailer.

TDKR trailer number 3 is still my favorite trailer of Nolan's Batman trilogy. With the December 07' trailer coming in at a close second. It was just such a heavy, emotional trailer.

I thought they became more proactive? Nolan mentioned something about Gotham becoming more of a 'police state' if I recall. Though to be fair that element was hardly explored in the actual movie.

Who dressed and undressed Wayne, on his way to, the pit? Would have been better to throw him in, there in his batsuit with the broken mask.

I know I've mentioned this a few times these past couple months but I had to share.

Remember the premiere stream? I randomly came upon one for The Great Gatsby currently going on. The guy from TDKR premiere stream last summer is there but he has a new partner. I guess the gal from TDKR wasn't invited back.
