For those who care.... In the order on the album (which was NOT the way it was supposed to be heard), the correct cue names should be:
16. Do What You Were Made For
17. I Have Faith in You/Goodbyes
18. Join Me
19. The Battle Begins"

Also, I asked him if there would be another release that has additional cues, he said he wasn't aware of one.

Well first of all, those names make SO much more sense. Been nagging me. Second, I always wondered why the music on the album was out of order. Now I know.

Has anyone noticed that Welcome Back - End Titles is actually the end composition of X2?! It's not the end music of DOFP at all, which had hints of Hope - Xavier's Theme in it. Ha, just noticed that now.

Actually no, although I've listened to it so many times. BUT I noticed that the track "I found them" is based on the "The X Jet" track of X1 ost!

There's something that has me a little curious, and I don't know if it's been pointed out in this thread.

The cue that plays during the film's opening titles isn't quite the same as the CD version. It actually goes into a few different keys before "TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX PRESENTS" appears on screen, and then the cue plays out identically to its CD counterpart. Is there a reason for this difference? Was it just something that Ottman decided to replace for the score's release?

A lot of times the deadline for the soundtrack is earlier then the deadline for the complete score, so you end up with instances like this where I assume Ottman had to send the score in for the CD, but was still working on the film after.

Another, more drastic, example I can give is the 2007 HAIRSPRAY musical. Marc Shaiman's score in the film is almost entirely different than what's on the soundtrack because New Line needed it 2 months before the film's release. It's all the same music, but the final version's in the film are more lush, full, and complete.

That, and there's also re-writes to score cues on every film. It wouldn't shock me if Ottman wrote an alternate opening to the main title, as he wrote an alternate to the X2 main title

why most of you here like old fanfare-ish scores similar to 70's films? that's what I noticed in almost every discussion about scores. I know it may be sort of nostalgic, but in a musical point of view, these themes (the likes of old Superman, Batman, etc ..) suck .. and so does Ottman's theme (and the whole score except Xavier theme) ..

I really loved DoFP, but the score was very bad and has nothing memorable .. no track (except Xavier's) can be remembered and would still run in your head and enjoy listening to it in loop.

when DoFP was first announced, I was hoping for Vaughan to direct it, he's a genius and way better than Singer, and Vaughan means Henry Jackman would compose the score, his work in FC was one of the best I've listened to. am still playing most of the score till this day. I even set many tracks as ringtones.

but, when it was officially announced that Singer will direct, I knew Ottman will make the score, and didn't expect anything good from it ..

I still believe if it was Vaughan+Jackman, I would give the movie 12/10 instead of 9/10. It would be the best comic book movie ever.

Giving an imaginary movie a 12/10 is completely ridiculous.

Thanks for the explanations, JP and NE. Still, I'm not too sure which version of the main title I prefer in DoFP, between the theatrical version and the CD version.

I would give that movie a 7/10 maybe less.

See how ridiculous that sounds?

I just watched Superman Returns this week and I have to say that, I find DOFP's score so much better!

It's a different version of Hope (Xavier's Theme); a softer and more melodic version. I hope it's not going to be an unreleased track.
that softer version of Hope is probably the emotional music I've ever heard in any of the films. Especially because the most intense part of it plays when Rogue is shown.

Yes, Hope is great and fits those scenes perfectly.

Earlier this month, DOFP got a special limited edition vinyl release of the soundtrack.

The Music On Vinyl release will be celebrated with a first numbered pressing of 2000 copies on coloured vinyl!

180 gram audiophile vinyl
