So half of the Justice League movie would be undoing the ending of The Dark Knight Rises?

Also WB would delay Batman solo films for the next decade so Bale could come back?

I'm calling b.s.

All I have to say is this: Anything can happen in Hollywood at this point, especially if they're desperate or when money talks. It's the neo Wild West.

Ever since October, knowing that we're getting a new Star Wars, now with JJ directing, I've kept my mouth shut. Hell, we're in the SECOND PHASE of Marvel's Film Universe. 5 years ago, I laughed at the idea of an Avengers movie. So we're find out the truth behind this sooner or later..

Nothing can compete with Star Wars. Nothing. It's the most popular, most well known and most lucrative entertainment franchise of all time. You can bet Episode 7 will break every record out there when it comes out. Doesn't matter if you have a JL movie or not you can't compete with that.

EDIT: RE ^ That's why it's taking so long to land deals with Hamill, Ford and Fisher. There wouldn't be an Ep 7 without them and they know this. Disney knows this too, which is why they'll pay them whatever they want (but obviously they're waiting on a script).

But wouldn't WB want something to at least compete with that?

The truth always comes out. Just keep an eye out on the trades. They're the ones with the most reputable records.

I'm totally for it. Bring back Nolan/Goyer/Synder/ and Bale. Go for it WB, you got this fan's support.

What does he mean by "take on"?

I stlil don't understand this idea of these movies competing.

Are they coming out on the same weekend or something? forcing casual movie goers to choose between one or the other?

You. Can't. Compete. With. Star Wars.

It's not hard to understand. If Star Wars comes out in the summer of 2015 (which is unlikely but that's the current projection) then you can bet your bottom dollar a JL/WF movie won't be right before or behind it. Maybe a MOS sequel but that's it. You can't compete with Star Wars.

I’m not surprise El May is reporting this, and feel this to be likely, eventually. I myself have said similar…not hard to see or figure out; just connect the dots. Listen to what have been said by all involved, over the last 9 months. Obvious if Nolan comes, so will Bale. I think I see how they are approaching this. Anyway, this is how I saw it a short time ago, and still feel this may be their approach…time will certainly tell.

http://forums.superherohype.com/show...&postcount=530

Neither less, this is possibly great news for JL moving forward. Some things El May is saying I think is wrong; but, overall direction with Nolan involvement, I think will come to fruition.

I'm not gonna sweat all of this only because I am a little burnt out on superhero films in general. I mean..I'm looking forward to Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and even 'Guardians', but because they come out on a yearly basis, they don't feel that special. It's not like that magical one of a kind moment of revisiting an old friend when he/she has never left in the first place. That, and WB/DC has been so wishy-washy with the direction of their movies that I feel almost indifferent until I see the greenlight.

For example, if the rumors are true, I'm super excited over Brad Bird's Tommorowland than anything comic book related.

Yeah dude, of course they are competing. That's why marketing big films is saved till the last few weeks before they open. That's why release dates get sqwitched so much.

Is this not common knowledge? There's an entire industry based around box office projections.

I wouldn't get the reasoning behind that. One does not simply go up against Star Wars. JL could be a potentially lucrative franchise if done right but if the main reason they want to do it is to wage some kind of box office war against Star Wars/Avengers they will lose and lose badly. Its behooves them to take their time with this and make sure its done the right way.

Come on, it's not like WB will just go "Oh yeah, we give up." No, they want their own mega-blockbuster franchise. They'll want to go big. I don't see how just because SW is there, and Avengers exists, WB will just decide to not compete. It's not about whether they open at the same time, it's about WB having its own thing.

Look, I don't see this thing about WB wanting to compete against StarWars...it's not the same genre, so to speak. Yes, they are comics/pulp fiction, much like apples & oranges are fruit. Still, we are talking about apples & oranges. I just think this is El May way of trying to justify his scoop with financial reasoning....which is unnecessary.

Same here. Elysium is my most anticipated movie of this year. Tomorrowland is moving up the list for 2014 for me.

Bingo. You don't put an unproven pitcher against a home run hitter and hope for the best in the ninth inning.

You guys aren't understanding something. WB will NOT release a live-action JL/WB film (the first of it's kind in the history of cinema) a few weeks before or a few weeks after a new Star Wars movie is released. That would be the dumbest thing for them to do out of a long list of possible dumb things. You release your movie when there's as little competition as possible before, after and during its theatrical run. That's why Avengers came out in May. That's why the "summer" season is expanding to Spring and Fall now.

Again, you can say anything you will about what you want to happen, but WB will never release a JL/WB movie in the same summer as Star Wars 7, Avengers 2 and Muppets 2 (let's not even get into Avatar 2)

Yup. It's not a blockbuster but it's family friendly and branded already. Just more competition. You don't want to release a movie targeted to parents on the weekend they'll be taking their kids to see a movie. That goes for any animated movies scheduled for summer 2015 release as well.

Bringing Bale's Batman back would be awful and totally undermine the emotional weight and overall greatness of TDKR. Everything else, with Nolan producing and such I'm fine with. Just make it a different Batman, please.

I know some didn't like TDKR but I absolutely loved it and thought the whole ending aspect of it was perfect.

If they are gonna make the TDKT universe the new DC movieverse than the most logical choice must be Blake, right? Then again they might have sensed the anger from the fans about a non-Bruce Wayne Batman (personally I wouldn't hate it by default) and decided they wanted to bring Bale back.

Can't believe Nolan would do this.

Summer has plenty of room. Star Wars VII for 2015 isn't even officially a go at this point. Time will tell.

Personally, if WB WANTS a DC film in 2015, I think they should go with the 'World's Finest' with Batman and Superman, that will lead into Justice League in 2017 or whatever. It won't feel as abrupt, and while it's not a cohesive build-up that Marvel had (starting with Phase 1), hey, it's good enough.

The problem with any talks of the World's Finest or Justice League is the uncertainty of the Man of Steel sequels, especially if Zack Synder is involved with the other project(s). That would be a real shame if Man of Steel turns out to be a gem.

Star Wars 7 is further along than anything WB has so money says it's more realistic for a 2015 release than JL/WF/MOS2
