I would surprised if they weren't, with Thanos involved I'd imagine seeing them in some capacity.

I'm not ready to say that it means "zomg no Thanos in TA2," but I'm sure some people will read it that way. And the whole Deep Space Armor link.

I mean, *surely,* after everything we've learned about Phase II, he doesn't mean there's no connection between GOTG and Avengers 2? I thought that was the whole raison-d'etre.
It probably is. Being "more of a stand-alone" doesn't mean they won't intro Thanos, which was obviously the point of greenlighting this movie in the first place. It maybe means the same specific strand of Thanos' story won't carry over from one film to the other.

Given everything we've learned about Phase 2 and what Marvel is doing in their comics line right now I would be shocked if the Guardians are not in A2. You'r just going to have to figure out in your mind how it could work Chewy.

What Feige is saying is that what the Guardians are dealing with will not influence the Avengers characters much...which goes along perfectly with my Universal Church of Truth/Magus theory. That does not mean they won't have a conflict with Thanos in A2.

Or not. There's very little chance any of the Guardians shows up other than a cameo, IMO. Avengers is crowded already with a rumored new member (or two). I think they're treating the Guardians as they should--a standalone intro that also introduces a cosmic threat the Avengers will have to deal with.

Alright, don't be disappointed when it turns out they're in it.

I could see the Guardians or one of the Gaurdians appear and tell a story in flashback form. Or something to explain Thanos is coming or who/what Thanos is to The Avengers.

You don't dilute an Avengers movie with a half-dozen other characters who don't directly relate to the characters' interpersonal journey. The movie will be about how the Avengers deal with a huge, unstoppable cosmic force, and there's too much to explore in that already. Stuffing the Guardians in there doesn't contribute to the knife twisting in the first two acts, and as the Avengers will be the ones to beat Thanos in whatever capacity in the film's third act, it doesn't add much there either.

There's no way to add them into the movie and deliver them any sort of payoff in the film's third act (beating Thanos) without taking that same payoff away from the film's main characters.

Chewy just posted a piece with Whedon talking about how much smaller and more personal Avengers 2 will be, by focusing even more on the relationships. You seriously think he'll accomplish that by doubling the number of characters? C'mon guy.

I think a replay of the message Stark receives in space is as close as we'll get to that.

You think I haven't read that? And it's obviously not the first time he's said that. A "smaller" story that explores the relationship of the team does not mean that the Guardians cannot play a role in the film. I've gone into detail about this before with Chewy, I'm not about to write another essay on it. It's called smart storytelling.

I guess you just find it more convenient to ignore everything I've tried to tell you before about how that's very doable?

Actually, it sounds like the opposite of that.

It's the Avengers. The story should be about them from beginning to end. Maybe by Avengers 5 we'll be ready to throw the focus on someone outside the group.

No, you're just not thinking about how to make it work...something that Joss does very well. Just because the Guardians would be in the movie does not mean they will have to garner a large amount of attention.

No, it's called "Mr. Dent like to argue about ****ing everything, even when he doesn't have a leg to stand on."

So have fun with that.

It's baggy storytelling. If they do it, it'll be the biggest mistake in the MCU so far. It only harms both franchises.

If you're talking about the essays you wrote in the Avengers 2 thread, I didn't read them, as you started it off with nonsensical pejoratives instead of making your point

Also I really have no interest in debating this again, don't know why I keep letting myself get sucked into it lol

Anyway, hopefully we get some casting soon, though I doubt Marvel will release anything this week what with the IM3 trailer

Oh please. I even said that I was not about to get into this. I have a different opinion than you three, deal with it.

I told you before, if you don't agree with me and don't want to talk/debate about it then don't reply to my posts you take objection to.

Yeah, right. Everything is the "biggest mistake in the MCU" until they actually do it and prove everyone wrong. When the Guardians were first announced everyone was calling it the "biggest mistake".

No, I made my point in that same post, you're mad because I said you lost any type of credibility by comparing a film with about 11 characters in it to the cluster**** that was The Last Stand, which is true, because you showed you're only looking at past films which had completely different creative teams and context behind them and what they did wrong instead of how to make this film work.

No, I don't either, we'll just see when we get more info on the films.

I think the summer will be full of awesome GOTG news. Or news anyways.

So you're just going to have to deal with me "arguing" with you then.

EDIT: I just realized you said I had no legs to stand on...sure I don't...if you, you know, just ignore everything going on in Marvel right now and what we know about phase 2.
