Fair point.

It would have been like a really boring dub step song.

I guess that's true. No one wants Mystique to sound like this:

Maybe she uses the altered voice to scare people, especially humans? Just a theory.

You know, I am not sure if I would just get used to it, or find it annoying after a while. Considering how things went in the first trilogy, even when Mystique spoke more often, her dialog was broken up with scenes that involved her impersonating other voices.

Watch X1 the other day,and that digitally altered voice was cool and the work they did for her body, the scales/the paint still look amazing to this day and its better than Mystique's body-make-up for DOFP.

Yeah, Lawrence-Mystique hasn't looked right yet

also, more importantly, I'm just so friggin' tired of Mystique in these movies
apparently, the X-men only have like 3 real, threatening villains according to Fox

There have been a slew of X-Men villains in these films

Toad
Sabertooth
Mystique
Magneto
Juggernaut
William Stryker
Deadpool
The Blob
Kestrel
Silver Samurai
Lady Deathstrike
Emma Frost
Callisto
Pyro
Robert Kelly
Dark Phoenix

That's sixteen different characters from canon. Fifteen if we don't double dip on Jean. And these are characters who had direct conflict with the X-Men, not just fan service cameos.

Krestel aka John Wraith was not a villain in Origins.

Also you missed mentioning Viper, Shingen, Agent Zero, Riptide, Azazel and Tempest.

In my opinion, they should give her a break along with Magneto.

I feel like the only ones that should appear in a lot of movies are the members of the X-Men. 3 movies are already fine for villains. But after give them a break and make room for new big characters.

I think the reason for the Mags Mystique overload had to do with the actors they wanted to use for the first trilogy. Then they had to stay in "quasi-continuity" so they used characters accordingly for FC.

Well, and Magneto is probably not just the greatest X-Men villain of all time but one of Marvel's greatest villains period.

No one's been complaining about Loki hogging up villain airtime in the Marvel Universe and he's been the main villain in the same amount of movies as Magneto - two.

Really? That's all anyone talks about. Loki is the villain.

Yeah but if there's another OT cast film in the future. I don't think Fox wouldn't want Ian Mckellen back as Magneto.

My point is that far more than three villains have been featured. And while we are at it, both of us missed Sebastian Shaw.

Can people wait until they see this movie before they judge Jennifer's acting as Mystique is not that good? God.

In the first movie, she had no skills, cuz she was just a good teenager like to have fun and joined Magneto after Magneto told her things that she agreed strongly with. FYI, I did not think her portrayal as this teenager Mystique wanting to look like a human was bad at all, I think it was on point. Her dialogs with Xavier, Beast, Angel, etc came off very natural. That was pretty much her character development in First Class. It was written that way, so don't blame Jennifer!

This movie is a lot different, but none of you have seen it yet.

Of course when people here said that they prefer Rebecca Romijn is the better Mystique. They are only judging them from what they saw in the films that are already released. I don't think anyone is already considering Lawrence's work in DOFP since its not even out yet.

Now when the time comes and DOFP is already out, does it become not fair to compare Kelsey Grammar to Nicholas Hoult now that Nicholas Hoult already appeared in 2 films and Kelsey Grammer only appeared in 1 film?

Its not really about how many X-Men films the actors appeared in.

Well I was

a) exaggerating, for effect

b) not counting henchmen, only lead(-ish) villains

So really, it'd be Magneto & Mystique(3 films), Stryker (2 films), Shaw (1 Film), and now Trask (w/ Stryker)

So.. 5... my bad

Point is that it took what..?.. 7 x-films to get to Apocalypse, that's just silly

Not really silly in my opinion, since the last 3 were spin-offs. Of course no one expected Apocalypse to appear in those spin-offs, right? The first two were prequels/Origin stories and the third one was a post-X3 film and we all knew it was gonna feature the Japan Wolverine story.

We'll call you Magneto and you can be Professor X!

Ugh, those lines made me squirm in my seat. Terrible lines for sure, but terribly delivered. She was nothing but extremely irritating in First Class.
